Alzarqawi Killed

Post by Kramer »

I was flipping channels when I find out that alzarqawi was killed in a bomb raid. good news!
I getta say he deserved it, he killed Muslims, blowed up mosques and beheaded civilians --the world is better without him.

"the world is better without him."

That remains to be seen. One thing is sure; the West isn't in a celebratory mode. Nothing much has gone right for the occupiers and invaders of Iraq. When Saddam was captured, they said: "the world is better without him." They aslo claimed, with the capture of Saddam, the insurgency is finished. Al-Zarqawi was a field insurgent, one leader of many, and there are many who would easily succeed him. Analyst agree his death would have little or no effect on the insurgency.

By killing alzarqawi doesnt mean it's the end of the road for the insurgency. This will increase the killing of Iraqis the days to come.

Another staged theatrical event by the occupying forces. Another "Hollywood moment" as Robert journalist Fisk put it. This is a shrewd attempt by the occupying forces to "personalise" the war: if only we kill or capture Al- Zarqawi or Bin Laden the imperialist war machine would have us believe, hostilities will come to a halt, IEDs will stop popping up, and the resistence will end.

Not many in Iraq will grieve his death I don't imagine. The guy was no hero, he was a villian and a sadistic butcher. He gave the resistence a bad name, and was unremitting in his violent campaign against the Shia. Fortunately for him, the Marines got to him before the resistence could.

This is good news in the sense that the U.S has martyred him. Which in turn will cause the insurgents to fight with a renewed vigor.

One of the reports I read said that he was turned in by locals. If true, that could be itself the event of greatest significance here.

I read that the $25M reward for turning him in would be paid. Where does that fit in?
