What if the hadith is authentic?
That's my point, hadiths like these which are generally considered authentic, have been the cause of people leaving Islam.

Do I know why he got angry, probably because she was spying on him, why did he hit her, God knows, how hard did he hit her, God knows, is this even authentic, God knows.

Aisha followed him, because she thought he would sneak to his other wives and it doesn't suit a prophet to cheat. That's why he asked 'Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?'

The hadith scholars have set up a good system which enables them to research if a hadith is authentic or weak. Bare in mind that the muslims were the first to write down an accurate and critic biography wherein everyones short cmonings are mentioned. One have to fulfil some requirements in order to accept his narrations.
Without hadith we wouldn't be able to know how to pray, so if you accept one why do you reject the other?
As for the ones that left the islam, i think they will find always an excuse.

My question is would you ever hit a woman if she provoked you, or under any circumstances? the main reason I'm asking waa some men show a such great restrain, when put in a difficult situation and some obviously lose control and do some damage, markaa which category do you think you belong to, the former one misa the latter one?

Recently I was at close qarabo's house, when a sudden fight broke out between the husband and the wife. It started with harmless yelling but it slowly turned into physical, the wife started beating the shit out of the husband and chase him around the house with a dacas lol (it was a funny scene) The husband simply walked away when he realized xaalata inaay xun tahay, even though she was hitting him, he never laid a hand on her, gacan baa u tagay.

P.S...I didn't stop the fight because I was in shock :| .
Not really manly nor dignified to be chased around with a dacas. It is his fault for marrying such an ill mannered woman. Anyway, if it were a knife she were carrying, I think he would be within his rights to slap her, punch her and maybe kick her just to ensure that the corpse stopped twitching.

Seriously though, it’s a question of upbringing. Vulgar people resort to violence.
