Re: On the Road to Independent Statehood?
Somalis 85% are ethnic Somalis (Samaale) that is Dir,Hawiye,Darood and now Isaaq since they refused to be part of Dir ... the rest 15% are Saab and other ethnic minorites.
Hawiye,Darood and Isaaq are all related to Dir.... that means you are all from Dir... so kids stop arguement and show some respect to DIR NOBEL QABIIL

Re: On the Road to Independent Statehood?
What is this confusion about Somali groups, and how is it related to the topic?
As for Somali groups: There are 5
Hawiye, Isaq, Darod, Digil/Mirifle and Dir.
As for the very known ones, as early as 10-11th century and mentioned in history books:
-Hawiye and Dir.
------------------------
As for the topic, the article is no different then the ones written by paid-Phd's in defence of the TFG. Will it change reality on the ground? Not really.
Recognition is something you earn, not receive. Now has the Northwest got all it takes to grap that recognition/statehood?
Not really. It's a delicate balance of subclans, which is based on the only notion of: ''South is in trouble/mess, we don't want to be part of''
We'll see what the future brings.

Re: On the Road to Independent Statehood?
Break Down of Somalia
Hawiye
Darood
Digil y Mirifle
Dir
Isaaq
Other: jareer, reer xamar, brawani etc...
Dir is the oldest
Darood is probably the youngest
Amazing people are figuring stuff out now
When its been established for centuries

Sadeboi waa lagu wasay, Xplaya baa ku wasay and by that I mean why the hell would you keep repeating "answer the question" instead of outright laying everything on the table and making him choose one of two things:
Either he is
1. Mahe Dir, and enters Somali from there
or
2. Sheikh Isaaq who was "Arab man" and as they say married an Oromo slave-woman (magaadle) and the Abyssinian woman (Xabuusheed) in which case, how are they Somali?
As for Marehan, it is an Arabic name, go to facebook search and see all the arabs with the name

Re: On the Road to Independent Statehood?
Adiga oo ah an offshoot Qotti/Oromo clan sida aad Soomaali ku noqotay ayuu Sheekh Isaxaaq oo Carab ah Soomaali ku noqday. Soomaalinimo maha shay ab iyo isir loo yeesho ee waa dhaqan.
The Hawiiye is an offshoot Hutu clan. The Dooro are offshoot Oromo clan. The DIR and perhaps the Midgaans are the true natives.
Somaaliweyn
How will Somaliland join Somalia? Can you eloborate as to how you think that can ever be possible?

Re: On the Road to Independent Statehood?
Voltage, you have not read my posts, if you did you would know that I gave him those two options in my posts on this topic. Everytime I told him choose what you are and tell us what you are if your not dir. HE CANNOT ANSWER.
Gurey, offcourse doonbiro was not the daughter of dir himself but she belonged to the dir clan. Which sub-clan I do not know since the clans back then were not as big as today and thus do not need to be mention. For example, after reer-diini I am bah-xawadle, and I count 9 names from diini, do I know which sub-clan of xawadle that great-grandma of mine was? No. I know she is xawadle. Besides, we are not talking about maternal side, because you don't see me asking you which one oromo sub-clan and habesha sub-clan your grandmothers were
I WANT TO KNOW IF YOUR NOT DIR, WHERE DO YOU FALL UNDER? IF ISAAQ WAS ARAB, HE MARRIED A HABESHA AND OROMO, SO HOW ARE YOU SOMALI?
