Anyway, you're too optimistic. Somali clans were and still intermarrying with each other.

Sometimes, it solves problems, other times it makes it worse.

You made an example out of Faroole. Well, it's not
like he married his Isaaq wife two years ago. He was married to her
when he was the president of Puntlaand. But, it didn't stop him from playing
hard ball with Isaaq, was very aggressive militarily compared to Gaas.

Many soldiers and high ranks offichals
in the kacaan government had Isaaq wifes or reer abti.
At the same time, most of those who facilitated the events of 88 were
also from that group. Just because people are marrying with
each other doesn't mean it will stop the waring, that's very naive.

I tried to look for it in my history,
but I can't provide you with a screenshot or link to it
since I read it long time ago. But I clearly remember reading
about Abdilahi Yusuf and one of his main goals af establishing PL was to
undermine SL quest for recognition alongside incorporating Harti lands in Sool & Sanaag.
Could you provide an example of how it makes it worse (intermarriage)? Many members of my family and other families I know intermarry with other clans. They all have turned out to be fine except occasional hiccups when they go to their homeland.

Yes he did play hardball with Somaliland but I would argue that it doesn't mean he had prejudice with Isaaq but rather it meant he had a few bones to pick up with Somaliland. Him considering a unity with SL eliminates the idea of prejudice.

I do realise it won't stop warring but it does reduce them quite heavily, that is what I said earlier in the post.

The civil war in Somalia was nearly finished in around 2006 when ICU got most of the land. Ethiopians invading reignited the war. ICU was more successful compared to the rest (except Al-Shabaab) because their ideology was not based on clan. SL was more successful compared to PL because of less divisions based on tribal lines.

Tribal warfare can still happen but it is less.

Can you imagine how worse it would be for Isaaq people if Barre's government did not contain any of isaaq people?

I'll wait for a source. I can't find it anywhere either.

PL join SL? It's like you, the princess, Queen marrying the king. :Heh:

The peasant you're talking about is Somalia government.

The only useful part of PL is the northern part. Bosaso to caluula down to that small peninsula. The rest is no use.

The people of (civilians) of Somaliland and Puntland are really okay with each other, it's the politicians that promote this division and animosity between the two enclaves because it benefits them and their families more than it benefits the ordinary Harti, Gadabursi and Isaaq civilians of Puntland and Somaliland.

Hi! I'm doing a research on Somali piracy. What do you think: is it greed (necessity and need for money) or grievance (anger because of the presence og international ships that are damaging the sea) based?
