For the record, no somalis aren't arabs or "black arabs" (a word I find offensive). We are somali africans just like egyptians are not arabs, berber north africans aren't arabs and Beja aren't. Do not mistake linguistic borrowings and similar cultural traits as being the same as a them. If that's the case, persians who've interacted with the arabs for longer and who also have a higher percentage of arabic loanwords in their language would be considered arab as well. But we all no the are a separate group of people. Yes, we share religious ties with many arabs (not all are muslim), but that's it. Please read and learn aboiut things before you spout your inferiority complex-laden bullshit on an internet forum for all to see.

what you have to understand is that arabs are not one people. they're kind of like the latinos.. you can be black, white, yellow, brown etc and be an arab because you speak arabic and have arab "culture". so technically speaking, many somalis would be considered arabs.

The sheer idiocy of the children on this forum is baffling. To insinuate that Somalis are Arabs is seemingly pathetic; it is like you people suffer from an inferiority complex. In order to be an Arab; Arabic must have been your first language, and you should be from Arab regions and have a specific look. Last I checked you were African, so be proud of that.

I am not surprised by the behavior of children on this forum ; I blame your parents. The only image of Somali you have had is your mother going to weddings with a new outfit every weekend, and your father going to coffee shops or chewing khat in your basements.

Somalis used to be proud people, what happened to you? It is like an Ethiopian coming here and saying he/she is a European because of the long ties they've had with the Continent and because they share a religion.Sounds stupid right? yeah, that is how we are all looking at your right now who continue to throw the "we are Arab chant".

And yet, Sayid Muhammad thought he was an Arab like all the thousands of other Somalis and at least two major clans. Everyone is entitled to their views, but we can't deny the facts that: 1. Somali clans consider themselves to be Arabs, B. Many Arabs consider Somalis to be Arabs or at least part of the Arab family.
