Modern Iran was called Persia from 500BC to 1935AD. In 1935, the Shah of Iran, to show his immense support for Adolf Hitler, named the country Iran, equivelant to the english word Aryan, to show Hitler that he was being backed by an authentic Aryan nation. Fuel to his flame.
2500 years of history thrown down the toilet for a stupid, short-term diplomatic cause. Persians..abahood haa wassan!
Bush will not attack Iran without provocation. This will come in the form of a USS Liberty style attack from an ally, and will be blamed on the Iranians, therefore creating a casus belli for the devastation of Iran. Of course, oil hitting 200 a barrel is either not accounted for, or desired deliberately for whatever end.
Bombing those facilities will be like multiple Chernobyl's.
Bush needs no provocation or excuse, the american public is stupid enough to fall for anything, the techniques of manufacturing consent have advanced.
Paidmonk,
Iran or Aryana is the original name of the land from Afghanistan in the east, the ferghana valley to the north(uzbekistan) to the borders of Todays Iran, The nazis got the name from them.
DEBKAfile reports: If attacked, Tehran will strike US and Israeli interests worldwide, says an Iranian official. Oil may hit $250
June 10, 2007, 8:44 PM (GMT+02:00)
Iran’s deputy interior minister on security, Mohammad Bager Zolghadr, issued this warning Sunday, June 10, with an eye on the joint US-Israel air maneuver which began the same day in the Negev. The unusually explicit threat by a senior Iranian official was prompted, say DEBKAfile’s Tehran sources, by his government’s interpretation of the seven-day Negev exercise as a preparatory step for a US-Israeli air attack on their nuclear sites. His threat to send oil prices skyrocketing to $250 a barrel hinted that Iran could block the Strait of Hormuz to oil exports from the Gulf. Last week the American carrier USS Stennis and its strike group practiced fending off small fast boats carrying explosives, torpedoes and missiles in the strategic strait, after Tehran announced the expansion of its fleet of small vessels. Exercise commander Lt. Kevin Ralston said the threat was real. “We all remember the USS Cole [rammed by suicide bombers in a fast explosives-laden boat in Aden Port seven years ago]. Speaking to a gathering of Iranian internal security units, Zolghadr remarked that Iran had spread sabotage networks across the world capable of striking US and Israel interests at any point on the globe. They may take the offensive, he said, but they will not keep control up until the end, and the damage they suffer will be harsh and painful. Iranian leaders have also taken to heart transport minister Shaul Mofaz’s remark after his strategic talks in Washington last week that no options can be ruled out, including the military option. DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources have learned add that the Islamic Republic’s rulers have been sounding out “revolutionary” Latin American governments about creating joint anti-US terrorist cells for attacks in North and South America. The subject came up in talks with Nicararagua’s Daniel Ortega when he arrived in Tehran Sunday and in discussions with Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. Neither is enthusiastic about getting involved in violent terrorist activity against the United States, although not averse to stepping up anti-US propaganda. Before Ortega took off for Tehran, Israeli parliamentarian Effie Eytam visited Managua and cautioned Nicaraguan lawmakers about the detrimental implications of close relations with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Iran. However, Ortega is angling for economic aid from Tehran. On arrival at Khomenei airport, he said he is looking forward to fruitful ties of cooperation with Iran in the war on poverty."
Predicting that Iran will obtain a nuclear weapon within three years and claiming to have a strike plan in place, senior American military officers have told The Jerusalem Post they support President George W. Bush's stance to do everything necessary to stop the Islamic Republic's race for nuclear power.
...
A high-ranking American military officer told the Post that senior officers in the US armed forces had thrown their support behind Bush and believed that additional steps needed to be taken to stop Iran.
Predictions within the US military are that Bush will do what is needed to stop Teheran before he leaves office in 2009, including possibly launching a military strike against its nuclear facilities.
...
According to a high-ranking American military officer, the US Navy and Air Force would play the primary roles in any military action taken against Iran. One idea under consideration is a naval blockade designed to cut off Iran's oil exports.
The officer said that if the US government or the UN Security Council decided on this course of action, the US Navy would most probably not block the Strait of Hormuz - a step that would definitely draw an Iranian military response - but would patrol farther out and turn away tankers on their way to load oil.
all that a strike will do is punish iran for bieng a naughty boy. the americans will hit power stations, normal factories and refineires to ruin its economy, becuase they know that they cannot really hurt its nuclear program.
Irans nuclear program was deliberatly designed to take attacks by the US and Isreal and survive.
I'm afraid everything is set for an attack on Iran. All we await now is George-boy to go on television and order Iran to do X, Y, Z, within 48 hours or face military action.
Debka confused a hot pursuit for an invasion, as happens from time to time. The statement that Debka was caught lying and pushing the Zionist agenda is just ludicrous. Note that the site that published the remarks you quoted also asks the question "What would happen if all Jews converted to Islam?" and begins their statement "about us" with this:
"This site was born from a desire to expose America's fraudulent monetary system and the evil of charging interest on money loaned."
So that is not exactly balanced reportage either. Fish the facts out and compare other sources. Don't just say they are unreliable. If nothing else, Debka is an excellent source of how the world looks to the Israelis, just as your site is an excellent source for how radical Islamists think.
Firstly, the admirers of such sight didn't disagree miss-information given to them by the editors about the so-called “50 thousand Turkish army massing on Iraqi borders'...did they...I don't recall.
Secondly, Many essays at that sight reflect about Israel opposit of sites that carry pro-Israeli articles....mainly the US mass media.
Grant, the idea that Zionists or Zionist sources are credible because they don't concoct lies is ludicrous. Zionists aren't different from their Neocons twin. Of course, when outright lies are discovered, excuses such as confusion, hot pursuit, etc are given. You know that the majority of members and visitors of this forum are Muslims, so they are interested in Muslim sources, Muslim perspective, independent sources, etc-- not anti-Islam and anti-Muslim sources.
As a Deist, what's the source of your interest in Zionists and defending unreliable Zionist sources?
frankly, one must wonder what the connections are about non-jews-neo-conservatives and AIPAC about the Middle East? Is it about Hate? Admirations? Dislike? Conquer? Continue on domination in the region for sake of Israeli interest? Oil? Of simply testing the latest weapons on poor Arabs?
Are you saying if Iran is attacked by the americans it will make millions of muslims dead an homless isnt that an american dream becoming reality. Why iran threathening America by killing muslim brothers and sisters?
[quote="*jr"]IRAN has threatened to launch a missile blitz against the Gulf states and plunge the entire Middle East into war if America attacks its nuclear facilities.
Admiral Ali Shamkhani, a senior defence adviser to the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that Gulf states providing the US with military cooperation would be the key targets of a barrage of ballistic missiles.
Shamkhani told the US journal Defense News that missiles would be launched not only at US military bases but also at strategic targets such as oil refineries and power stations.
Qatar, Bahrain and Oman all host important US bases and British forces are based in all three countries. Any Iranian attack would be bound to draw in the other Gulf Cooperation Council states: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
The US know their boundaries, Their not ready to take that sort of risk, especially having failed terribly in Iraq, I doubt if they will go and attack Iran's nuclear facilities. Not at this point and time.

If these towel-head Arabs continue on giving bases to the Americans, they will be attacked....and they will feel what its like under the gun.
