Brave, I'm inclined towards that direction more and more lately. A peripheral political power is probably what we need, in such setting where there's no restraining central power with potential for corruption and over taxation, I think people are more likely to thrive and progress.

and what will you do about the intense hate that people have for one another?!.. Confused ..no amount of education and/or federalization will solve this problem..we need to open up rehab clinics for all the nutjobs out there..we can start a pilot project and use the people on this forum as test subjects..Arrow

[What do you think?]

Anything short of Islamic solution is bound to fail.

Been paying attention to Political science 101 eh?

You have not said anything constructive, rather all you are doing is regurgitating whatever you heard recently. Rise above simple reasoning child!

Somalia needs a strong central government, powerful above tribal politics yet is able to be checked and balance itself. Qabiils are like federal states, and without strong yet friendly control, unmanageable by no one.

Very simple:

Warlords, TFG and so called Leaders don't speak for a qabiil.

They speak for their own interests.

We are being used and played like fools.

Ashlee, I think it's safe to assume that most Somalis fall back on their clan to survive due to poverty and illiteracy. Now if we take these two elements out of the equation, I don't think Clan loyalty would be as potent.

Arabman, how do you think Islam would help obliterate the abuse of Clannism?

You saw how the ICU was short lived, it was reportedly based on Islam and yet many accused that it was also based on Clan.

Somalia has seen every trick, scheme, plot, idea. If I came up with the greatest idea to solve this problem today, and shared it with somali people, they would say this idea only benefits Ogaden. If you're Marexaan and did the same thing they would say its only best for Marexaan. The problem is our people have too much cuqdad, and I don't blame them for we have a lot of bad blood between us.

I have no logical explanation for that one, maybe it's due to their familial backgrounds, who knows!

the root cause of our problems is qabil. rehab clinics with intensive quran reading and other islam related activities will be our solution..up

i read somewhere that in china someone can't commit to a religion until they're 18. we should have a similar thing in somalia..kids can't know what their qabil is until they turn 18..that along with SOMALI history being taught in schools would be a great start..up

[Arabman, how do you think Islam would help obliterate the abuse of Clannism?]

A Muslim practicing the teachings of Islam is the least likely to practice Clannism. What's more, in an Islamic system, there is corporal punishment and fines for anyone caught practicing nepotism, favoritism, etc.

[You saw the ICU reportedly based on Islam and yet many accused that it was also based on Clan.]

I am sure you know about the saying:

"A thief will call you a thief before you call him a thief."

The clannist enemies of the ICU would naturally accuse it of Clannism. What better way to discredit the ICU? Fortunately, most people are smart, as they witness the track records of each group. We know the track records of the ICU, TFG, warlords, war criminals, corrupt politicians, thugs and other groups.

Arabman,
North America and Europes ain't based on Sharia and they are peacefull and advanced countries. So a country can be built without Islamic Sharai.
