How can oil drilling cause a civil war?

It took about 100,000 deaths to trigger the first civil war, I highly doubt that some little drilling will be enough to trigger another one.

Heavens, this is a disaster waiting to happen. When the so called President and his PM cant even get along, oil explorations is the last thing Somalis need to be doing. This is not the right time. How about learning to live peacefully amongst each other for a start?

LOOL, Your logic is flawed as usual. This is a matter that the "Federal" gov't of a country decides and deals with. I believe Puntland, no matter how developed is part of the TFG gov't.Kosher? That is unless you are suggesting that the TFG is a gov't to only Southern Somalia.

States in the USA can negotiate their own deals with foreign countries.

Unites States of Somalia is the way forward. Central Government is the way backwards.

Provinces in Canada too. The oil wealth is primarily kept in provinces.

If any moryaan thinks he is going to share the wealth of oil from another group then surely he doesn't know reality.

If range is there in january and CNOOC in Mudug what inthe blue hell does these moryaans think they can do?

We need to share any oil wealth in the future with the Hawiye instead of excluding them. It's the moral thing to do, the way forward and an effective way to ensure peace and brotherhood among the Somali people.


I understand the reluctance of my fellow Somalis from Puntland, but animosities aside, isn't this war about resources in the first place. Surely you can figure out what we need to change in ourselves than, reverse the trend.

Hutus say "Puntland and Somaliland are barren" and today they know 100 of billions of dollars in revenue are under the grounds of barren land.


Let them keep there Cambe leef and we keep out Billion and buy some Cambe leef and farms.....

I have a feeling after the TFG mandate is done that Puntland will declare Sovereignty and the balkanization of Somalis will began.

Puntland will somehow figure out away to drill this oil they will make a deal with the central government and move forward.
