men should never beat their wives and/or kids. ever.

They usually stay because they think it's their fault or because they think (after having apologized for the millionth time) their husbands will change. Some of them even think that their husbands beating them is a physical manifestation of his love. If that isn't stupidity, I don't know what is.

You say they stay because of their children; they don't want a broken home..But I don't see how having to listen to your parents fight (continously) and seeing your mother all battered and bruised can be in the least bit beneficial.

Don't these women have family members? Why can't they stay with them..And even if they don't live near any of their relatives, there's always a Women's Shelter.

There's always a way out. Staying in such a situation is just stupid.

Algebra... is not always as simple as that...

some of these women have been tottally reliant on their men so thay they actuall fear divorce.. so often you'll have the men abusing her and at the same time threatening to divorce. Then again having 6 children , not beying able to speak the language of the country you live in ..and knowing almost nothing about how the system around you works.. is scary!

no one is holding her back.

Trust me it sounds like stupidity but when you know the person and it doesnt seem that way. I am not good at advicing so the best thing to do is to let her come to that realization.

Honestly, all the abusive relationships I know of are of abusive wives man-handling their husbands. Some have even ended in divorce.

It's wrong, I shouldn't be laughing, but I can't help it.

Its not always that black & white, this issue has been researched & analyzed for decades and there still many unanswered questions as to why abused women remain with their abusers.

In our culture, a woman would rather endure humiliation, mental & physical abuse then seek divorce, because of the stigma attached to being divorced. In addition, most breadwinners are the men and the only source of income for the wife comes from her abuser, by leaving she is afraid of not having that provision.

No I think it is wrong from both sides. People can always settle their differences without hitting each other. It is wrong
