The Nugaal region more commonly known as Fake Nugaal since 1984 should change name. Its a misrepresentation to call the Region after Nugaal Valley, a valley which stretches well beyond the borders of this region. It is like Ethiopia being called Nile after the Nile river.

Blame the British, they chose Garowe to become the centre of Nugaal region. When Siad Barre created the Sool province, it was only natural that the remaining part would retain the name Nugaal province. Its just a name man, nobody loses sleep over it. Taleh is a true Nugaaleed town, but is outside of Nugaal province, while Burtinle is a Hawd/Mudug town inside it. Who cares?

Be grateful for Sool, otherwise Laascaanood would have been like Buuhoodle.
