Why do they have the power to oppose a government? Why can't they be stopped? Should we just watch from our tv screens as things get worse? Why is everyone so helpless and feel like nothing can be done?
They had the power because they have cash, weapons, and enough mooryan to keep things status quo.
Somalia isn't coming back in our lifetimes, Youm Al Qiyamah is around the corner and Somalis won't have a country, I don't think. But you can still make money in Somalia, have a nice vacation home in the peaceful regions, and even take part in development there. Its just it doesn't seem like it will ever be what it was, the unity, the strength of the whole Horn of Africa.
Oh well, its the Third World.
So enjoy your life in the Western world and focus on your deen.

Its because Somalis go from being one to different clan regions and states
Go from the power of the Horn into mini states
Its understandable, Somalis used to be the envy of other Africans

I just don't understand why people in Somalia want to continue to be in this anarchy. All of these excuses of warlords is just getting old.
I truly think that Somalis have allowed the country to plummet. People were more than fine being refugees of the world and having a Western passport.

I hope you're not being serious here. Do you really think the ordinary civilians in Mogadishu enjoy having to live in anarchy? Do you really think they enjoy being accidentally shot at? Do you really think they enjoy having to live in makeshift huts & abandon their houses out of fear? That's incredibly naive of you walaal.
No, Somalis haven't allowed the country to plummet, it is greedy, selfish & totally ignorant warlords who have allowed Somalia to be in the sad state it is now. The average Somali citizen just wants to live in peace, with a government of their choice, without having to fear for their lives & their children's lives. The average Somali citizen in Mogadishu is tired of this anarchy - the mothers want their children to live a well nourished life, instead of dying from starvation or being "accidentally" shelled by Ethiopian troops.
The warlords are in control of Somalia - if the civilians had a choice in the matter - they would choose peace over anarchy & starvation any day. Just think about that walaal.

Depends on people you are referring to. The normal everyday Somali wants a government to have a life and peace in mind, move foward.
But the business elite in Xamar especially benefited from anarchy, people also gravitate to their clan interests with no central authority. There are people who live in looted property, ect.
Somalia is really complicated, you need to study the history from independence...right now Somalis don't have a common thing to unite them under. There is no other super power to balance things out.
We go from the envy of Africans to the laughing stock of that continent, really sad...and every clan has their own blood on their hands. Clans fought between each other during that span you mentioned, from Hargeysa to Kismaayo there were some type of inter or external conflicts that happened and were resolved. It is all documented.

He who controls Xamar, controls Somalia.
Banadir & its environs (Shabelle Dhexe & Shabelle Hoose) has more people than Somaliland or Puntland.

Snow, quote " So why do you get mad at Somaliland for its independence? It wants to seperate from this fuked up country with fuked up people.
The question should be walaal...
Why if you don't want to do anything with these people you call"Fuked up" are in their business 24/7? Look around the forum and watch who writes more about South Somalia...Just wondering...What is the reason?

I know, Cisse, alhamdullahi for that. I appreciate so much what the people of Somaliland have done for that country. May allah continue to bless them.
