Cali, I'm shocked at you, your wife didn't get there alone you know, you got her pregnant, so it's only right you show up for the birth, hold her hand, comfort her, and witness first hand what is it like. Not to be there for the birth of your baby cause of those reasons you listed is just selfish, I think you will regret it if you miss it. If my husband says he doesn't want to be in the room with me, while giving birth, I'd be devastated and hurt, and I will not accept his decision, in fact I want him to film the whole thing so I can watch his reaction later on and if I notice any slight disgust I will kick his ass.
It's very important for the husband to come into the room for the birth and offer support to the wife, while she is going through the pain and the torture, that's the least he could do.
