Re: REAL TALK: Al Islah movement & your views
Alislax has no value to me.
These are the same guys that caused problems in the Ogaden while they leaved in mogadishu like saints.
Ethiopians are not finished trust me they just want to make the resistance turn against themselves while they look for means of rearming themselves and increasing the ferocity.
Ethiopia has a mission in Somalia and can bring 10000's of soilders several times.
So its not like you are fighting Darood or an Abgal Vs HG. Its more bloody than that.
Ethiopia has every reason to die for Mogadishu are you willing is the question?

A famous Al-islah is A/Qassim Salad.
They believe in pacifism and acceptance of Sufi ideologies in to their circle. They're against Jihad and have no qualms about Ethiopian presence in Somalia. They're very much against the resistance groups & have a bad history with Al-itihad. During the ICU rule, al-islah were banned from public gatherings, etc.

Do you know that the fundings they got from the middle east they used it to finance the Shekhal VS Ogaden clashes.
What kind of people are these that use religion to stire hatred?
It was only when Some sheikhs wrote back to the financiers of what actualy Islax was undertaking .
Thats when the Shekhal wadado were defeated and tried acting saints in mogadishu

Dont know about A/Qassim Salad and his connection with Al Islah. I know one thing, and thats that A/Qassim was closer to ICU and the hardcore men inside them like Aweys and co then he is to AL Islah and what they stand for.
But judging Al Islah by their own words (in the paper) I have to agree with them on one thing: extremism both in clan and religion is not whats in the best interest of Somalia. As someone already remarked, we do not need radical men that have a tunnel-vision. Somali problems are so complex that we cannot afford to be lead by men that have one-dimensional thinking capacity.
On the other hand,
I do not agree with their consistent emphasis on pacifism as I am myself a man who believes that sometimes violence is needed to combat particular evils in order to preserve one's security, freedom and fundamental principles/believes.
But Kolombo,
Can you bring forth some sources which back your accusation of Al Islah members not caring for the presence of Ethiopians in Somalia? I must say thats a harsh accusation to any sane Somali person, especially to Al Islah members who from what I have read on their paper (see link) appear to be genuine, ambitious, concerned Somalis wanting to change Somalia and Somalis for the better.
----
Patriot,
Since you have constantly brought forth the argument of Al Islah financing tribal wars, can you bring forth something to back up your arguments? I never heard about that conflict and Al Islah's connection. Also, can't we use the same accusation for ONLF who besides fighting a legitimate, admirable struggle also occasionaly indulge themselves into petty tribal disagreements? Like the conflict between Sheikhal and Ogaden in which ONLF sided with the latter?

I wish other Islamic factions or any faction in Somalia would write down their ideology, strategy, mission, and believes down into papers so we could read them, analyze them, and support a faction based on their idea's.Islah is a peaceful and moderate Islamic organization, the
main goal of which is to advocate and lobby for the harmonisation and calibration of the
indigenous culture, state laws and policies with Islamic legal framework and values. It also
aims to promote these values in order to stimulate the religious adherence of the
individuals and community in accordance with the principles of Islamic moderation.
Moreover, Islah strives for the sovereignty and development of the Somali people in
order to be able to embrace Islamic values such as Shura (consultation ''democracy''),justice and equality.
All we have now is BBC news, internet websites, and this sheekh said this, hebel accused hebel, and silly personal attacks exchanged from left to right.
We need politics that is based on idea's not on individuals. Hence why I welcome Al Islah movement and their effort in writing down their ideology, mission, strategy etc. A good step, and hopefully more will follow!

dude I careless if you equate ONLF to tribal. Coz to you guys all Ogaden are ONLF. As for Islax we well know what happened unless you are Shekhal you might know better.Patriot,

Dude how would someone use religion to kill others unless his caqida is f* up. They both used this and Meles to stire the violence and in the end they found themselves in Raso under the protection of TPLF.

Havent finished reading the whole article yet, but from what i read so far i have to say it makes a sober read...
Probably the only cure Somalis need and possibly the only rational solution to a nation gone wild that need to be brought back into the fold of humanity.
Ps...Seef la bood wadaads with 7th century misguided mentality trying to apease Arab sponsors arent defenetly what Somlia needs.
