http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Society#Civil_rightsFour civil rights acts were passed, including three laws in the first two years of Johnson's presidency. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 forbade job discrimination and the segregation of public accommodations. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 assured minority registration and voting. It suspended use of literacy or other voter-qualification tests that had sometimes served to keep African-Americans off voting lists and provided for federal court lawsuits to stop discriminatory poll taxes. It also reinforced the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by authorizing the appointment of federal voting examiners in areas that did not meet voter-participation requirements. The Immigration and Nationality Services Act of 1965 abolished the national-origin quotas in immigration law. The Civil Rights Act of 1968 banned housing discrimination and extended constitutional protections to Native Americans on reservations.

Well JFK supported the rights of AAs and the Civil rights movement and many of the laws that were passed by LBJ were actually proposed/promised by JFK sadly he didn't makes it to sign them. Give credit where its due, its primarily that reason why he lost his life.nambarA wrote:John F. Kennedy and his brothers were racists who put a lot of obstacles on the way of the basic rights of African Americans and civil rights movements. It was LBJ who passed many laws concerning the basic rights (i.e. Voting Rights) of African Americans; that's why the civil rights movements thrived in the 1960's. When LBJ was vice president, he had many clashes with John Kennedy who was busy with having extramarital affairs while refusing LBJ's pleads to pass laws granting African Americans basic rights entitled to humans. So, when the name Kennedy is mentioned, you should know about its dark history.
I am impressed @ how much of history you know..and how you adress it.Ismahan123 wrote:Well JFK supported the rights of AAs and the Civil rights movement and many of the laws that were passed by LBJ were actually proposed/promised by JFK sadly he didn't makes it to sign them. You're defending him 'cause there are similarities between him and Obama? If so, just hope the similarities don't extend to the part where he loses his life.Ismahan123 wrote:Well JFK supported the rights of AAs and the Civil rights movement and many of the laws that were passed by LBJ were actually proposed/promised by JFK sadly he didn't makes it to sign them. But, JFK was killed for many reasons..liberating the blacks was one of them, but I doubt that it was the main reason.
LBJ has his credit for passing the act into a law , but he was hardly the initiator.
I don't admire both, even a tiny bit. One is a fake 'Messiah' who is gonna disappoint you (for your own good, let's hope I'm proved wrong), the other was a great adulterer who rejected to help 'Negros.'Ismahan123 wrote:Arabman,

I am aware of both Robert's and John's laisons with Marilyn Monroe. Can you specify more?nambarA wrote:I don't admire both, even a tiny bit. How do you know that he is going to disappoint? Do you realize that you are playing God by trying to predict the future?nambarA wrote:I don't admire both, even a tiny bit. I didn't predict; I come to a conclusion through analysis, studying the history of American presidents, studying what politicians say/promise before election and what they do afterward, etc. A politician isn't like a wadaad who is bound to stick to the teachings of the Qur'an & Hadith. What politicians do is like an observed phenomenon, like the sun rising from the east every day. Never trust a politician.Ismahan123 wrote:How do you know that he is going to disappoint?
