In my oppinion if the next govt actually wanted a sustainable economy they would refuse all financial aid (not including remittance), engourage a manufacturing and agricultural sector and build the basics such as sewage system, health care and education before building these fancy buildings.
All of these programs need funding..manufacturing, agriculture and all sorts of infrastructure ...so you need financial aid/loans to begin with..
You cant just build things with nothing..esp, in a country like somalia which has zero export and 100% imports.not to mention the lack of any financial institutions for almost 20 yrs.

Help your relatives open a business. That is what I have done couple of times for different relatives and they became self sufficient although I had to fork out still some money for other expenses, like if someone fell ill and etc.

True i agree, but all developing economies start in stages. First stage is where the country imports very little and is able to sustain its self from its own agriculture. We cant make the same mistake as other african countries that only survive on financial aid.
