I used to know two guys who went crazy because the women they loved married other men. It is focked up. What people don't realize is that people who react such way in those situations are not sane to begin with.

When he was so sick and about to die...His family brought girls incase he forgets the one he fell in love and they(girls) kind of showed off their necks...Which was not the norm and he says:

Just came across this Cilmi Boodheeri dude from Botalaale.
Did he really die cause of love?

this guy ain't no loser! his name is synonym with love and affection. His fame outlasted that of millions and he'll always be a folklore icon long after you, i and every1 around here are gone. The woman who rejected him? she's not as popular as he is.

i think he died because of poor nutrition, disease, etc.

Loser? how so? the man is the most famouse somali, every somali know him or heared of him , he was the icon of the 20 century somali love poetry. Cilmi Liibaan "boodhari" (border man) 1909-1938 is the poineer of the somali love poetry, before him that genere never existed , he could be only compared to Qays and Antara. His poetry inspired many modern somali play writers and song composers, for them Cilmi emboded the pure Platonic love deviod of sexual excess, few hints there and here but not the blatant sexulizations.

He spent his last years married to a Yemeni girl from Berbera after she got tired of him calling her Hodan she left him and he died out of poor health due to slef neglect brought on by his mad obsession pretty logical consequence , nobody dies of love but certainly you can die from its effects. Although he is among the least of my favourit poet most somali do not dispute his originality and invention of the Love genere some of his works can be compared to that of Omar Ibnu Rabiica, if you have any sense of history.

Hodan was not a pretty woman by all means , she just was his obsession and ironically despite her claim of not caring for him his entire Diiwaan of poetry was written from her own memory !! go figuer.

loool i met Hodan son?? are you out of your little Kuumbo mind kid Qodaal Boy>?, there is no son of Hodan who is a life the last of them died decades ago. Maybe her great grand childern but not her sons, Cilmi was Garxajis and so was Hodan I think a Ciidagale man who by nature has more camells was more of a worthy nomadic suiter then a fish boy from Laas Qori whom his only skills were swimming. Cilmi never porposed to Hodan and thus never was rejected , but anybody who has been in love would tell you the so called LOVE blossoms after one of the parties are gone for good, this why after she was married off Cilmis obsessions grew worst, had Cilmi married Hodan or Qays married Layla or Antra to Ebla we wouldn't be talking about them today at all, the magic is in the tragedy.
