btw, he may not take the stimulus money for Lousiana and the New Orleans mayor said he would take whatever the state doesn't take

it may also reduce airfare as highspeed trains are in direct competition with airline industry. The only concern I have is the economy's current situation. That money could be used to help already suffering companies.

I am all for rebuilding infrastructure and all, but I am really pissed off at how irresponsible "home-owners" are being rewarded

Where's that money now?

It was all a gimmick to create a false illussion that Bush was a concious leader who wanted to help the American tax payers. Most ecomonists laughed at it & told Bush's advisors that it would serve as a temporary fix, and would only mask the real issue. Jobs is the underlying factor here & that's all that matters.

Screw even some third world nations have better transportation system then U.S. I think maybe its because Americans have more cars as individuals so there is no need for upgrading but a lot of cities have gotten the light rail system recently especially because of the gas.

Seattle finished the link light rail around the city (old monorail in the background)




and the regional one around Puget Sound western washington is opening this summer





High speed train that goes to Vancouver is going to be icing on the cake.
