"How can the election be put back for a year because of some incident, and what sort of effect could the bombing have that would disrupt the election requiring them to be delayed for a year. The election should have been held up for no more then a week or too and then allowed to carry on. But to stop and then restart a years time is counterproductive and only prelongs the instability."
Unless you believe the NEC is UDUB, how can you accuse the government for asking an extention? Let me repeat what I said earlier, UDUB is ready today, tommorrow, or anytime. The NEC is not ready because of obvious reasons. UDUB and UCID and GUURTI and other international partners have all acknowledged the reasons that the NEC presented for a delay of "TWO MONTHS".
The NEC sounded the bells earlier in late January that the elections will have to be delayed for two months because of complications in the Electoral registration. The sorting and cleaning up the Electroal Regirstration requires time.
I don't have to tell you what the Terror attacks caused because you are well aware of it. The terror Attacks happened on 29 of Oct 2009. The NEC only had finished registration of Saaxil and Awdal regions. Hargeisa registration was supposedly to start on 29 of Oct 2009, but because of the attacks all the international people who were supporting the NEC had to evacuate the country. That led to almost 2 months of no activity. Hargeisa's registration was restarted in Late December.
The NEC, couragiously, managed to carry-out all the registration throughout the country in a fast-tracked manner.
So, where will this lost of time gonna come? Of course no where. The NEC had to ask for a TWO month delay.
But It was Kulmiye that refused to accept that simple request. Kulmiye dragged their feet from a 3 Praty compromise deal to delay the elecitons, and instead just said "NO", "NO", "NO", and stuck with the 29 of March date. Kulmiye threatened all sorts of threats including of not recognising the government etc etc.
So, knowing the conclusion of the NEC that the election can not be held on time, the Government had to act and in a responsible manner. The government forwarded a request to the Guurti, as is in the constitution, and the Guurti freely voted for it. The Guurti in a heated debate recognised that two months is not enough and to be on the safe said on things they extended the government's term for 6 months. The Guurti acted responsibly to safe the country from what Kulmiye was wishing for - anarchy and is-dhexyaac.
So what was Kulmiye's response? Kulmiye said the Guurti has no right or legal right to extend anything (LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL). Kulmiye further eluded that only the NEC has the right to delay the elections.
Last week, the NEC approved the Guurti's decisions. And again what was Kulmiye's response? You guessed it right. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
"If Kulmiye was anti democracy or somaliland they had a better reason in the last election to disrupt the harmony of somaliland. But they chose to hold the peace and wait for the next election so you can understand the frustration in finding out Riyaale and his sheep had no intention of allowing this election to proceed. Silanyo have behaved like gentleman they have explained the reason for not accepting this government, its mandate has expired. They have demonstrate to make their feelings heard loud and clear only to find state sponsored violence being aimed at them."
So far, Kulmiye is the only party that is being anti-constitution. They even tried to take something out of the pockets saying that Saleebaan Gaal will become a president. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I concur Siilaanyo didn't go down dirty the last presidential elections but even if he tried to go down dirty, the writing was on the wall.
"Kulmiye cant be blamed for destabilizing somaliland, the true culprits are Riyale and his flock. For being unable to administer and organize an election, someone has to stand up against this march towards dictatorship. Imagine in other democracies if elections cant be held for any reason heads roll and people are dismissed only in somaliland do you get rewarded for not allowing election to take place by keeping your position. What incentive does Riyale have for organizing this election if he keeps his place for not organizing it...."
This is nonsense. That sort of thinking of "KULMIYE IS GOING TO WIN", will haunt you in the days to come. Kulmiye folks were saying the same thing in the last elections, only for them to loose badly.
