Back in Portland, Maine, I used to go to this catholic church next door to play basketball. Never been to a sermon though.

Nope, I don't think I've ever went in side of a church a day of my life, not that theirs anything wrong with it.

Several times. Mainly for tourism and curiosity while visiting other countries.

Yes, I have been inside a church for few minutes.
I do remember reading that when Omar ibn Al Khatab (the second rightly guided caliphate) went to Jerusalem and was handed the keys of the city, he entered one of its churches and he gave orders that the christians are NOT to be harmed nor their churches to be destroyed and their faith to be never belittled.One of my non muslim friends joined me in our mosque recently in preyer. So I was wondering is their anything against muslims going to a church, for example for a friends wedding.

plenty of times, school used to take us when i was younger. the church doesn't symbolise anything/ doesn't mean anything to us so i don't see why we wouldn't be allowed.
