Harar Lost its importance long ago...But it will still be attractive to somali's with all that khaat that grows there.

It never lost it's cultural importance, and it was the last capital of a Muslim Oromo/Afar/Somali state.
And indeed, you mention but one benefit of the capital being in Harar.

James' idea would make sense if you could accelerate the separation at the Rift Valley. Short of that, good luck.

Jareerboi,

Ignorance is a poor subsitute for the facts. The TFG didn't sell anything to Kenya.

Jareerboi,

I have seen the letter of understanding, and your mother is wrong. The two governments made a joint claim on additional seabottom beyond the 200 mile limit. It had to be joint because a dispute going back to the colonial period over the Bajunni islands has not yet been resolved. The TFG gave up nothing.

Abdi_Som wrote:my wish and prayer is that one day all somali people will unite and create greater somalia. :som:

but i am having hard time admitting that the dream might be over

why?

#1. there is no way we will be able to take NFD from kenya. as somalia becomes more impoverished, our people are fleeing to kenya as refugees, instead of NFD somalis fighting for liberation

we can take NFD, why? because all these refugees fleeing to kenya and building strong powerful and rich somali kenyans, slowy and slowy not only 'NFD but whole of kenya will be ours. wait and see. most powerful government post will be given to us. :som:

#2. Djibouti can not join greater somalia. first because of its stability.. second because the afar ethnic group of djibouti would not allow that

Djibouti doesnt want to join somalia, and i dont blame them. we in it mess. just look at us. but give time, peace and economic growth and thy will be begging to join us. damn how many ports do we have!? yh they gonna wona join us willingy! :som:

#3. the Ogaden region is failing against other pro-ethiopia somalis in the region. the ONLF has already split into two groups while isaaq and other somalis in ethiopia are killing ONLF soldiers everyday

yeah that is something of great worry, but all it needs i somalia to have strong central government that enforces for the people of somalia to support their Ogadenia brothers. with that done, somalia as a country can go head to head to Ethiopia, becuase now is like tribe V country and that not air, but if we have the whole of somalia supporting and fighting for Ogadenia i think we win against amxaari. :som:

#4. we can not be sure about Somaliland. if the sharif TFG fails completely, the western governents will recognize somaliland and it would be over.

that is true. but you have to realise if somalia succeeds in becoming peaceful, somaliland like their brothers in Djibouti will be joining us willingly. just give time. :som:

#5. even the mainland somalia aka southern/central somalia can not fix its problem. Xamar is going deeper into crisis. it can be the next afghan if sharif fails because america and co will continue interfering

not true! the reason these groups are reacting and asking for war is because of foriegn troops in our country. sharif knows that, AY knew that, US knows that all of somalia's enemy know that. so what do we do to show our enemy that they cant win!? force the foreign troops to leave somalia. if every somali in somalia, inc. the so called government agrees that internal affairs means INTERNAL AFFAIRS!!! i think xabash and bastarinkoda will get he message and leave! :som:

what do you think about all these??
is GS dream over??

see is not that hard, all somalia is not rcket science, only few people are causing the problems in somalia. so what do we do 1) all somalis should agree on NO FOREIGN TROOPS. 2) INTERAL AFFAIRS MEANS INTERNAL AFFAIRS 2) OGADENIA IS EVERY SOMALI PERSON'S PROBLEM 4)BUILD STRONG, FIRM BUT FAIR CENTRAL GOVERNMENT.

with all that ^ above done, the smaller problems will slowly dissappear. the reason why there seems to be so much problems in somalia is because we have major FEW problems that CAN be soted, but WONT at this situation. so we need game change.

That is clearly inaccurate.....ONLF is intact and stronger than ever...Anti-independence propoganda.
