Mom cooks only two times and thats only when Majority of the people are home marka we are forced to eat together, sometimes it's funny and other times I just take my plate somewhere else when they decide to make me the discussion of the day.

I would never sit or eat close to the window, especially with my back turned against the window; unless it is a top floor building

Did they make you read Sherlock Holmes "case of the dancing men," in elementary school? If so, you would know why

Nah I was thinking about where we come from and the psychological scars, only black people born in Africa worry about sitting next to a window

Well, they don't have to eat from one big bowl, what I'm saying is to share a meal, and sit on one table, but each person will put his food on his plate.
you are not only teaching kids a lost art, but you will also teaching eating manners, and how to socialize, so that when they go to school or work caferteria they don't have to embrass themselves by eating with an open mouth and talking while their mouth is full, we use to learn those stuff at dinner table.
But nowadays it's convenient for family members to heat up their own meal in the microwave at different times and retreat to their own corners of the house and go back to the computer or watching tv.[/img]

Actually You have a point there. We used to all eat together until like High School, and then people started getting wierd schedules. However I remember My Aunt slapping us, and bopping us on the head for bad table manners. Stuff like using part of the napkin not getting it all dirty, not talking with Your mouth full, how to eat basto 'properly' , etc. Actually its great in the early years but later on it becomes tough as the family gets older.
