Re: map of Cabudwaaq
Mareexaan lost gelinsoor, Dhusamareb and those deserted desert villages back when they migrated to Mogadishu in the 70's and 80's. After 1991, none went back they continued to head south, either to Kismaayo or Gedo. It was a natural voluntary displacement that occurred not an unnatural one.
Also, Sade is the son of Darod and he had two prodigies--Marehan and Facaye.

Re: map of Cabudwaaq
I don't like to repeat myself saxiib.
Mareexaan used to own Gelinsoor and Dhusamareeb and lost that in the civil war to the usc.
Let's say the mareexaan in gelinsoor went to xamar, what about reer baadiyaha who live in the surroundings of gelinsoor and dhusamareeb? Cities mean nothing to the somaalis, haadi badiyaha lagaa qaato, wax kasta waa laga qaatay.
Somalida ma yaqaanaan wax 'voluntary' la yiraahdo. If they own it, the only way they are going to lose it is by force, especially geeljire.
I guess Darood 'voluntary' left Xamar
Ok, thanks for the info about Sade ( The only qabiil i know quite good is Majeerteen

History lesson.
Marexan settled in Gaalkacyo, Dhuusamareb, Warder, and the area between in the 50s and this is well known bro so dont argue about it. then came the 60s and a big junk of city dwellers in Dhusamareb and Galkacyo waiting for independence moved to Xamar, and even after independence the gradual movement from Mudug cities to Xamar continued. Even as this happened there was significant Marexan city dwellers in Mudug, although not near the number prior to independence, but the Rer Miyi Marexan presence in Mudug did not change at all and they would continue to use the wells in Dhusamareb, Warder, Gaalkacyo etc and visit the city markets.
at this stage there was significant number of empty houses, because most people were either soldiers or moved to Xamar.
During the 60s Garballa well was constructed, this allowed the Reer Miyi to be closer to the Hawd for their Camel herds so they moved to nearby Caabudwaaq and even some settling inside the city that was then just several houses. the city was born not long after as more of the Reer Wardeer city dwellers moved into a Somali city Caabudwaaq, and did their business their instead of a less friendly, disputed and dangerous region. at that time Wardheer was mostly Marexan and then Ogaden, they also fled the place, there was this famous BIG refugee camp filled with Ogaden in Caabudwaaq, forgot the name, it was one of the first if not the first camp.
Caabudwaaq's huge population comes from all these areas.
then came the 70s and Siyaad Barre(aun) broke traditional tribal borders, more and more Hawiyo moved into Dhusamareb, Gaalkacyo, even the Majerten population grew in Gaalkacyo and Hawd. Naturally people started to sell or lease their vacated homes to the growing population of other tribes.
this whent on for 20 years up to the 90s, where by that time the number of Marexans in Gaalkacyo, Dhusamareb reduced.
and yeah, this also took place in Wardheer, although not as drastig as Gaalkacyo and Dhusamareb.. when SSDF attack Marexan civilians there was not many Marexans in Hawd, but the number was enough to reach Goldogob, populate Qaloocan and the numerous settlement in Hawd.
when the USC attacked Marexan, there was practically no Marexans in Dhusamareb and Gaalkacyo, they did not remove Marexan there just weren't any left there
also ask yourself, why would Marexan diffend Majerten in Gaalkacyo(mostly Rer Abti) when their own land was lost?? is that logical to you
Gelinsoor is Wagardac and Wagardac still own the place, dont know what your talking about, but Caabudwaaq has flourished people tend to make business over there and thats why it might have been neglected !

Re: map of Cabudwaaq
Using Abdallah's logic Marexaan were on maps living in Sool, Nugaal not too long ago, were they also kicked out of there?
Btw, Caabudwaaq is by far the biggest and only real relevent town in Galgudud, who the heck knows or cares about these other tuulos. Why do You think Ahlu Sunnah which controls the whole region made Caabudwaaq their headquarters?
"The district of Abudwak is located in northwest of Galgadud region in central Somalia. It is one
of the eight districts in the region. Galgadud is the nationally recognised region with its
headquarters in Dhusa-Mareb. The city of Abudwak is believed to be the largest commercial city
in the whole of Galgadud region"

Re: map of Cabudwaaq

don't pay attention to all the names and dots, most of them are either cemeteries or newly created settlements, this is common knowledge among Rer Mudug. what can be called cities are Beledweyn, Caabudwaaq, Wardheer and Gaalkacyo. smaller towns include Dhusamareeb, Ceelbuur, Shilaabo, Cadaado, Gelinsoor and Goldogob.
relatively large settlements include, Balanballe, Guriceel, Xarardheere Dhabbat, Shilaabo, Xeraale, and several others.
the rest are nothing but four houses and a small temporary well, there are no masjids and 9 out of 10 of them are either totally deserted or vacated during most of the day.
Marexan city dwellers replaced Dhusamareb, Gaalkacyo with Xamar. then not long after replaced Wardheer, Shilaabo and Gelaadi with new born Caabudwaaq. most of if it happened during independence.

this is actually positive.
Reer Baadiyo just got closer to the trees for their camels, back in the day Reer Dalal use to attack Wagardac with sticks in Hawd where Reer Dalal would beat them since they lived closer to hawd and were greater in number, but when it came to the Wells in Gaalkacyo closer to Wagardac land, Reer Dalal would be chased away if they over did their time using the wells. my father fell into one of those wells whiles fetching water to an old Rer Xirsi Diini man, he got badly injured but alhamdulilah he got help from the Wagardac who caused the incident, they used bark from a tree(forgot the name) to treat the injury

again.
the tribal demographics have changed over time, but huge movement took place during the 60s were the scattered Marexan population imploded and became more concentrated in around Caabudwaaq. the other event which changed tribal demographics was the removal of tribal bounderies in the 70s, the southern Hawiyo migrated from Ceelbuur and such, directly to larger cities such as Dhusamareeb(Ceyr), Beledweyn and Gaalkacyo(Sacad/Saleebaan).
Majerten on the other hand moved south west from desert regions into Gelaadi, Wardheer and their population in Gaalkacyo increased.
the MJ trend amongst city dwellers was similar to that of Marexans both during the 50-60s, that is move to Xamar, so their population growth in these areas(Gelaadi, Wardheer etc) were mainly Reer Baadiyo..Reer Bicidyaha, Reer Maxamuud, etc but Reer Khalaf(Cumar Maxamuud) were not so welcomed due to their hostility to the previous clans, thats why they are contained by Leelkase.
most Marexans who are Farax Ugaas have MJ grandmothers or great grandmothers also some cases of Ceyr, whereas Siyaad Hussen and Wagardacs have grandmothers or great grandmothers who are Sacad and Saleebaan also cases of Cumar Maxamuud.
Re: map of Cabudwaaq
btw Balanballe is closer to Beledweyn only 40 km and Xeraale is closer to the border..
the map is a total screw up, but it gives you an idea of how silly the claims of some are. USC could barely see the Marexan defensive before being sent to their maker, so how can they take Marexan land ?? the fact is Wuqooyi Marexan were extremely comfortable that they even men exported north to Gaalkacyo were the biggest, "dabar jibish" took place. not to mention the complete exploitation of Marexan camels by the Buntiland admin after Marexans protected the only city Majerten had at the time.
abdalla
instead of making illogical statement, ponder over the power beesha Sade.. ducada daarood must be taking effect since every time Marexan are in some nasty mess, they come out clean

Re: map of Cabudwaaq
Snoop, i think i hit a raw nerve for you to write an whole essay
Look your illogical 'explanation': first you ask why there are no marexaans in Dhusamareeb and Gelinsoor (refer to one of your first posts on this thread) and then you explain why marexaan don't settle there anymore
Read also what Voltage wrote. Nobody is debating wether marexaans settle in those places or not, but i am curious to know what the reason was.
We can't easily say 'they just moved'. Nobody is scattered all over the place for no reason.
As for gelinsoor and Dhusamareeb: these two places were lost during the USC period. Can you tell me why the USC from the South reached Mudug, a central region, without any difficulties? If the Marexaans were capable of driving the usc out of Gaalkacyo why didn't they chase the Hawiye out of their own places, dhusamareeb and gelinsoor? Kulaha when we saved MJ in Gaalkacyo from USC, war Gaalkacyo was saved by their inhabitants the Leelkasse and Cumar maxamuud and some reer bicidyahan
Murax,
When did marexaan move from Sool and Sanaag? Was it during the darawiish period? And who in his mind would switch the green Sanaag for a desert in Mudug?

THe hawiyes that took over Galkacyo that you were rescued from were the Sacad in Baraxley. Prior to taking over Galkacyo, they had killed many majerteens in the city without any fear of repercussion. To this day Sacads cross into North Galkacyo and kill majerteens at will. Can you tell me why the USC from the South reached Mudug, a central region, without any difficulties?

the purpose of the long reply was to educate the general viewers in advance and also to broaden the sphere of clarification by including other Marexan settlements such as Wardheer, Gaalkacyo etc, bro, dont think your that important
and i did cover your points, i will do it again since you lack adequate comprehension.
1. Reer Magaal Marexan moved in big numbers during two occasions, first at independence and later at the development of Caabudwaaq city. 1960-1970.
2. Reer Miyi Marexans settled around Hawd, at Wardheer, Gelaadi, Shilaabo, Dhusamareeb, Gaalkacyo, etc small town such as Cadaado, Gelinsoor, but at the construction of Garballa well(Caabudwaaq well) migration took place because of a new well that had much more convenience due to its location. look at the map, Caabudwaaq is at the centre of the tree savanna. this happened prior to 1970
3. the vacated houses and land was quickly occupied by other tribes, such as Majerten, Hawiyo etc when the Tribal bounderies were broken by the Kacaan. this happend early 1970s
4. twenty years later the Marexan presence in those areas had reduced drastically.
this is the reality.

also answer these questions.
1). if USC forced Marexans out of Dhusamareeb, why is it they did not take over Caabudwaaq, Balanballe etc and the remaining Marexan area ?

I guess you forgot what happened in Hobyo with Keenadiid?
Saxiib the relationship between sacad and MJ mar hore baa laga gabyay waxaa ka mid aha Muxamed cumar Dage.
This gabay was made in the Guba silsalad. It started when Cali dhuux made the famous gabay (doqonkii ogadeen) where he criticizes the OG for loosing their land, Muxamed Cumar Dage is making the MJ as an example of how to ¨protect your land.*
Majeerteen dagaalkii dhawayd, duni u siigee dheh
*
Daandaansigii Reer Islaan, Sacad u daaduun dheh
*
Nin dakano ka haystooy arkaan, Sade ma daayaan dheh
*
Daaroodka kale waa hayaa, ficil dagaalkiiye
*
Dacashii Garaad Faarax baa, daad kasoo galaye

The funy thing is reer islaan is a subclan of reer mahed and they are a subclan of Faraax shirwac and they are subclan of cumar maxamuud and they are subclan of maxamuud saleebaan and they are a subclan of Majeerteen. Marka alxamdulilaah we know how to defend our lands and we never lost a land
snoop12 wrote:also answer these questions.

The Mareexaans in Baabudwaaq defended their land (caabudwaaq) i can't say that about the inhabitants of gelinsoor and Dhusamareeb. I think you have a problem with understanding my point of view: nobody is denying that Mareexaans don't settle in Dhusamareeb and Gelinsoor even voltage didn't deny it, you are the only one who is saying that dhusamareeb and Gelinsoor is still a mareexaan city. Because the so called 'voluntary migration' happened during the civil war and curious to why. Besides the USC passed that reaching before they reached Gaalkacyo without anu difficulties
2). if USC forced Marexans out of Dhusamareeb, why did Marexan forces fight them at Gaalkacyo when they can fight them at Dhusamareeb ?
I think you mean the SNF forces under Cabdulcasis Barre (is he still a live btw). His force came from the north. The little amount Mareexaans who fought in Gaalkacyo were those who were stationed in the North of Somalia. I am not denying mareexaan participated liberating Gaalkacyo, but walle they were insignificant, Barre provided us with arms though![]()
3). if USC forced MArexans out of Dhusamareeb, why did Marexan forces not take the city back after having defeated them at Gaalkacyo ?
Again, nobody is denying that Dhusamareeb is lost, it isn't a mareexaan city anymore and the little amount of mareexaan who fought in Gaalkacyo can't do shit, besides if you lose the city it's very hard to get it back
