But ppl don't worry or wait for the Mahdi like the Christians are waiting for Jesus. The Mahdi isn't a prophet or God, he is just a human like us that is just a very God fearing, honest, just leader. You have the Quran and the Hadith, so you have all you need to bring back the honor of Islam.

Technically, He's not mentioned in the Quran. And neither is the Dajjal.

Not all of the Prophet's descendants (saw) were killed. His grand son Hussein's young son was smuggled out of Karbala just as Hussein (ra) was about to be killed. Hussein's wife and young son were only out of a few individuals spared that day. This great-grand son was briefly a guest at Yazid Ibn Mu'awiyah's palace in Damascus, then has disappeared in to the pages of the history books. It could very likely be that from this child could come a lineage, in which the Mahdi will be born of. Allahu aclam though.

Hassan is buried in Karbala(hence shite's pilgrimage to his grave every year) and Hussen is buried in "Jannatul Baqiic' in the prophet's City of Medina. This fact renders the claims of Mahdi being the prophet's descendant very questionable. The leader of Muslims will be from the Arabs in the time mentioned in the Hadiths. I just wonder where these claims of specifying the lineage comes from or how accurate their sources are. Do some research and relate to us what you find about the death of Hassan. See if you can find a different historical perspective on what I said.

Imaam Abu Dawood (RA) narrates in his Sunan from Hadhrat Sahal Bin Tamaam Ibn Badee` who reports from Imraan Al Qattaan, who reports from Qataadah, who reports from Abu Nasrah, who reports from Hadhrat Abu Saeed Khudri (radhiyallahu anhu) that Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, “Al Mahdi is from me (my progeny), (he has a) broad and illuminated forehead and a high nose. Abu Saeed Khudri (R.A.) relates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "Al Mahdi will be from my progeny. His forehead will be broad and his nose will be high. He will fill the world with justice and fairness at a time when the world will be filled with oppression. He will rule for seven years."

Other ahadeeth also say...

* He will be tall

* He will be fair complexioned

* His facial features will be similar to those of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)

* His character will be exactly like that of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)

* His father's name will be Abdullah

* His mother's name will be Aamina

* He will speak with a slight stutter and occasionally this stutter will frustrate him causing him to hit his hand upon his thigh.

* His age at the time of his emergence will be forty years

* He will receive Knowledge from Allah.
