Actually I've become convinced that We are black berbers. If You look at North Africans closely, You will see that We are the same feature wise, except they are white and We are black. Plus I hear in some genetic tests Cushitic people and Berber people carry a lot of the same genes.

I agree bro. Our culture is the root cause of our problems. In our culture, we will defend injustice when committed by family members and relatives. As for this guy peace, gaal aqli haka sugin waayo their creator ayay ku caasiyeen.
Thanks sxb. What other culture in the world practices "aano qabiil"? The idea bringing the killer to justice is NOT JUSTICE ENOUGH and so the most productive member of a community who shares 35th grandfather with the killer must be turned over to achieve justice?

What civilized culture practices this abominable practice? Pay in mind this is just one of many retrograde and shocking practices sxb.

Somalis say gaal dil gartiisana sii, it is time people started logically asking themselves why I say the things I say about Somali culture instead of responding emotionally.

Well I expected you to be proud of your reer baadiye culture. It's the only interaction you have had prior to moving to Manchester is it not? I tend to believe countries are a reflection of their people. Last I looked the lands of the Masaai (Kenya and Tanzania) and the Zulu (South Africa) were the most developed parts of Africa. It must say a lot about their people just as our state of affairs must say a lot about our people.

I am glad you noticed I did not say "your" people because they are as well my people. Physically nothing makes me different. I have a skinny face, big forehead and speak Somali as well as if I was born and bred in the land of my parents. What makes me different is mentally. I understand the root cause of our problems and I see the necessity of evolving, something we have never done with our culture.

How do you expect to be rearing animals in the desert one day and then crisscrossing a globalized world trying to run a modern economy and state with a society that has not evolved and/or developed a skill set suitable to the change of environment? Our culture and people were not changed by the Europeans. They tried but we successfully resisted, probably the only Black African people that did successfully. I used to look at that with pride but I realize everything the colonists wrote concerning Somalis about being "independent fierce republicans", "no man is their sire", they "accept no rule from a peer", "believe themselves equal to or superior to anyone else" are exactly the same reasons we cannot be a developed society today.

If this was a mad max world, we would rule as we would have the skills to survive in such a society, but this is not. We need to learn how to bow our heads, stand in the back, say yes sir, and give in to the power of the law and chain of command as all other organized people do. What made the Bantu lower his eyes and bow his hand when the European master was walking his way is what keeps him organized and running today. What made the Ethiopian peasant bow his head and lower his eyes for the Emporer is what made them have a smooth transition back in 1991 when just like Somalia, the president was overthrown by rebels.

Our culture needs to evolve, we are no longer in the desert. We are no longer fighting for water and springs and raiding other clans for sport or for necessity. We need to adapt just as Europe adapted in the Renaissance and China adapted in the cultural revolution. We need our own cultural revolution.
