Inaader to Your First Question! I was in Hargeisa 6months ago, before that spent 3 months in Burco and Hargeisa and that was late 2008, and one of few things i do when i go down there, is get involved in the Business and Reasearch the Market in somaliland.. i have been to the Indho Deero factory, and i also have been to the Yiroowe Factory even thou when i went there, there was no Business going on because a chemical ingridents for their powder had run out....Dhaga Bacayl wrote:Horta goorma Somaliland kuugu dambaysay? Mida kale i dont know where you got this from, that the Indho-Deero company is struggling with their powder factory, there is over 400 people working in that factory that supplies the whole of somALILAND... while the other one in Yiroowe is suppling Moqadisho and southrn Somalia!
About this New Factory. The Owners are Somalilander Qurbo-joog ah plus the Malaysians have their share in it.... the Food will be deported to Malaysia and they will sell it from there, to markets such as (malaysia, Middle East, Philipine, indonesia etc....
Let me tell you something. The majority of the detergent product used in Somaliland has ILAYS packaging. It’s logical to assume that Since Ilays factory was the first one establish in Somaliland. Having said that, I think Indha Deero factory is catching up with it and it’s taking some of that market share. The question is, is it enough to support for both of them? The answer is no?
As far as the factories not struggling, yes they’re according to their potential productivity. These are huge factories and they need enough market to support beyond our borders. It looks like Ilays is trying to capture some of that Somalia market to compensate its lost but trust me that wasn’t in their initial plan to begin with.
The country didn’t need to factories that produce the same thing with 5 miles apart.

No chemical powders? Are you sure they weren't getting out of business due to lack of market share?LiQaaye_TDH wrote:Inaader to Your First Question! That is exactly what I was talking about. maalin ba midbaa xidhmaysa.

BTW, don’t take it personally if I criticize Ilma Indha deero or ka ag tag and ku adkee business practice in Somaliland . It's my country too.

Look what Telesom did to our cell phone system? The poor locals can NOT call each other if they don’t have the same carrier. They can’t even make outgoing calls to their family members who have different carrier. That is a fucked up business. It wasn’t like that when they needed the people. They changed that in 2006 to eliminate competition. As result, ST and Ilma abu site are out of the telephone business.
I'm glad you get involved when you go home. I lived there all 2008.

Re: BURCO'S New Meat Factory
I want to start a business in Suuqa Burco aswell.
You all have been to funfairs right? At the american ones (the ones i see on tv anyways), they all have somebody sitting somewhere on a plank above water. The idea is that you hit a button with a ball and that person falls in the water.
Well, i was thinking having something called "Hit the Habar Younis", laakin loox ayaa lala dhacaya.

Full swing in what capacity couz? For someone with business mind like you, I hope you understand where I’m going within. You don’t see McDonalds opening restaurants within close distance. Somaliland can NOT afford two detergent factories unless you have the market to export.
You will see another meat factory built in Somaliland tomorrow, watch.

Our people need to learn the difference between competition and good business ethics.
You don't have to prove it me bro. I take your word for it. ILAHAY ha no hagaajiyo wadanka. Our people have undying love for their homeland. We invest so much money there it's unbelievable.

Dhego.. not in that kind of Capacity that you expect ofcourse, but for a an african and Somali Business standard its not doing bad, the main Customers are the somalis so far, and that seems to be enough for now! but insha allah in the near future they will aim for higher as the whole of african Marjket!Dhaga Bacayl wrote:LiQaaye_TDH wrote:Dhego.. I looked the productivity projection of Ilays factor back in 2006, It was written clearly that only 13% of the full potential production was meant for Somali peninsula consumption. The other 87% was projected for exportation abroad including Ethiopia and Djibouti.
Since these two factories are built by the same group, I assume they both have the same capacity. Now we sitting 87% times 2 with no market insight.
ILAAHAY ha inoo khayro. Great move regardlesss...the market will come INSHA ALLAH!
