It's the Borough of Tower Hamlets, the day a Somali becomes the mayor of London will be the day after a Somali earns a peerage

Europe is slower in accepting change.

every somali thinks they can be the next obama. what they don't understand is that obama was born in the u.s., is half-white, was raised by his white grandparents & went to an ivy league university. no white person in their right mind will elect some black, muslim, refugee who can't speak the language properly.

Doesn't hurt to run really. As long as they obtain some qualifications, if they feel passionately about local issues, they should run.

In terms of blacks we have Keith Ellison and another Muslim (name escapes me) in Congress already. Nothing is impossible.

And these guys don't stand a chance of "fixing" Somalia, get the fuck outta here.

Demographic change has already begun in this USA. This year was a precipice. The first year where minority births outnumbered white births. In 30 years, white will be a minority and the country will truly be diverse.

i'm all for educated, young, somalis running but these old ass men need to give it a rest. if you can't communicate properly in english then you need to kick back and give it a rest. walahi some people run just for the sake of running. they don't even think about the consequences. if a somali runs a horrible campaign in a particular borough/city, it ruins the chances of other somalis running successful campaigns ( especially if you're the first somali to EVER run in that area).

He was not elected, thats why the Mayor of Tower Hamlet hardly has any power.

There has to be a Mayoral referendum before the mayors of local authorities can be elected and enjoy greater power. Only 12 local authorities have elected mayors, Tower Hamlet is not one of them.
