curing people with schizophrenia is very hard, because it has a lot to do with chemical imbalances and usually the best that can be done is just helping people coping with it instead of completely removing the condition. People who are bipolar, maniac, delusional, I don't know about them so much. But I know anybody can develope most psychological disorders if they go through serious unfortunate circumstances for a long period.

nomad.. i think u r projecting my dear. The least thing i could suffer from is --depression. But what causes the depression? My own self. My mental negative thinking leads me to depression. The moment i decide to be positive, i feel good immediately. Schizo is just a fancy name for self incflicted void or emptiness which usually stems from greed. The want of something.

Mental illness is just an excuse to get things easy. I used to know one Somali guy who would act crazy when he is with the Somalis but as soon as he was near foreigners he would act like any sane man

Yeah illnesses that stem from depression is very treatable in our culture, and is usually a non-issue unlike here where a huge portion of the populations in western post-industrialized countries are dealing with a depression epidemic. Somali's are now being confronted with all sorts of post traumatic stress syndrome, depression etc and a lot of them are not being helped.

But those that are severely schizophrenic, delusional, and unable to function god save us from being one of them. It's hard to cure any of them.

No you can't cure Schizophrenia. There is no cure, yes there is medication to stabilise it but no cure.

How often do you take your antibiotics when the doctor prescribed them to you? When you feel better you stop instead of finishing them right? That's the same with people with mental illness, as soon as they slightly feel better they stop. Now keeping in mind they should be on meds for life to keep their condition stabilised but instead as soon as they feel better they stop. Hence their condition is hardly stabilised. But that's not my point. Somalis find mental illness a shameful illness, heck only recently they discovered Cancer is nothing to be ashamed off. There is this ignorance of only bad people get terminal/mental illness because Allah is punishing them. This is caused by ignorance.
