Muuse Galaal was put in charge of the Commission in the 60's that was tasked with choosing one of the scripts competing which were Arabic, Kaddare, Osmaniya, Gedabursi or Borama, and Shire Jamac's form of Latin. At the end the commission was too weak, corrupt, and ineffective to choose from among the scripts until the Coup in 1969 when Siad Barre formed a new commission under Mohammed Addan Sheikh that picked Shire Jamac's form of Latin as the most practical in modern times.

Shire Jamac Axmed (Mareexaan) "invented the Somali script" and published the first Somali magazine (Iftiinka Aqoonta-The Light of Knowledge) in the 60's using his adapted form of Latin a decade before it was chosen by the state. Shire Jamac Axmed also wrote "Naxwaha Afka Soomaaliga" (Somali Language Grammer) in 1976 which until now is the accepted grammar theory of Somali

Looking over, I just realized I forgot to give the source of Professor Tanzania's book. The best Isaaq and one of the most well known Somali scholars to date is Professor Xussein Tanzania. If somebody would know who "invented" the Somali script, particularly another Isaaq, it would have been professor Tanzania.
