Whoever wants to celebrate the Prophet’s (sa) birthday should celebrate it and avoid doing any action contrary to Islamic Law. This act should be done with an intention that it is not a sunna nor an obligatory act. If these conditions are observed, and one is careful not to contradict Islamic Law, out of sincere love for the Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah upon him), then, Allah willing, there is nothing wrong with this action and this person will be rewarded.
Commenting on this, the Shaykh of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (May Allah have mercy upon him) said, “Indeed, such a person will be rewarded because of his intention.” Likewise, for the one who shuns this celebration, seeking to cling to the sunna out of fear of falling into innovation, then this person will also be rewarded, Allah willing. It is important to note that this is not a big issue. Nor is it necessary to give it more attention then it deserves

Regarding good bidca / innovations.
This ayah just trumps it all for me:
This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion AL-ISLAM.
surah 5 verse 3.
Why do we need to add anything to the deen. It has already been perfected by Allah swt as revealed through our prophet PBHU. where do 'good' innovations stop? Remember a good innovation to you may mean a bad innovation to someone else. We should be very careful about any innovation.

La mushkila, it is a very good bidca then. The first recorded instance was in ibn kathirs Beginning to the end, where in iraq I think a city official or very rich guy would slaughter some houndreds of sheep, 10,000 chicken, etc and the whole city would come.(don't quote me on the details) And ibn kathirs notes that it was a very good celebration or something.
Anyways how long are these debates going to go on? You see it as we are celebrating a holiday and we don't.
becareful in what you say there is no such thing as good bidcaa your comments may have you saying statements of kufr. this is because by saying good bidca you are saying that you know of a islam better than that of the prophets and companians and the tabeen or some how saying your perfecting what the prophet SAW brought as if his teachings were somehow incomplete. According to Salaf al salih if it wasnt present in the first 3 generations after the prophet SAW its consider as bidca and every bidca leads astray to the hellfire.
Allahu Akbar, is this jamac yARER?
