That map isn't accurate, I drew that based on the existing theories on the origin of the Somali people, which I no longer believe.

The history of the horn before about the year 1200 will probably require archaeological work to be done to figure out.

Aw - Saint
Dal - Land or Country

Aw-dal = The Land/ Country of the Saints.

Just because one word is remotely related to or sounds like a word which means something in Afarinnya has no basis for real scholarly evidence. At the end of the day every proponent of their argument can have his or her own evidences!

Gara, like I said before there are more native names of Oromo origin in Awdal than Afar names.
Rural just like your argument for awdal means adal. Every one can make is a case for his own hypothesis true, but denying factual evidences because of your extreme over fondness for your own somali subclan proves opinionated error.

claim is a bases of somali oral tradition but it cannot be a historic prove.

U cannot cite a historic figure, claim being his descendent and affirm the empire was yours...
com on u can do better than that.

When the Xabashi ruler killed Saaddiin, the emir of of Zeila, he made a poem chronicling his defeat of the "Somalis". This is one of the first written evidences of the SOmali ethnic group.Saaddiin is still buried near Zeila. Moreover, various Arab geographers from Ibn Batuta, to Al Yaqubi to Al idrisi, attested to the fact Berbera/Zeila was a territory to belonging to the Berbers. Ibn Batuta detailed how the berbers(Somalis) lived from Zeila to Muqdisho and the majority were Shafi Muslims, with a small minority belonging to unknown shia sect. If you insist on lying, I can bring up these quotes.

Gaajo,
I am familiar with the writings of Ibn Battuta.
U r equating berber to somali and make conclusions...I have nthg against it.

This thread is about Adal kingdom being Somali kingdom.
I say it was not.
If u have any evidence bring it.

^^I am not equating SOmali to Barbar. This is a historical fact(SOmalis are the barbars mentioned in the Horn of Africa), unless you know of another mythical group which settles/ed from Zeila to Muqdisho as Ibn Batuta said? FYI,Adal was actually a multi ethnic state and Somalis were part ofit. However, to say that Places like Zeila and Adal( Awdal) have nothing to do with Somalis, is pure historical fabrication and hearsay based on prejudices against SOmalis, which you and some other Oromos on here have.

Gaajo,
We r talking about two different things: berbers and adal
i) R berbers describes by battuta and others Somali? personnaly i dont think so, but i have nthg u claiming it

ii) is the historic Adal kingdom somali? definitely not.
Was the current somali region of "Awdal" part of Adal kingdom? yes at times.
Did somalis participate in adal kingdom as soldiers/mercenaries? yes! but that does not equate Adal kingdom being somali kingdom.
the same way oromo warriors being majority in abyssinian army does not equate to abyssinia being oromo kingdom.

My opinion is somalis renamed one of their region Awdal to claim the Adal kingdom!

Come on if Adal was yours, there would have been a lot of somali clans claiming being descendant of their kings!
