Although, not for Somalis.

Personally, in USA/Canada, I see almost no Somalis following their religion properly. Here in UK, I see a lot of Somalis doing just that.

May Allah keep them steadfast on Islaam. Ameen.

ps, there are many somali apostates, you dont need to become a jew or christian to leave Islaam. Simply become a secularist, like many on this forum profess. the concept that you leave 'To Caesar What Is Caesar's To God What Is God's'.

Another thing, we dont look at the numbers of the people who accept Islaam, as Abul wafa ibn aqil al-hanbali said:

If you would like to see the strength of Islam amongst people then do not look at the masses overcrowding at the gates of the grand mosques, nor their cries of Labbayk at ‘Arafa. But look at their intermingle(stance) with the enemies of the Sharia.

Talking about Apostates. Yesterday, on Universal Tv question and answer session, A Somali lady rang in and was telling a story about how her niece, who she raised as a daughter apostatised from Islam. The aunty cut her straight off from the family and said don't come near my family again, since you have openly left the fold of Islam. The girl who left the deen mother rang her sister, and said 'your dead to me, since you have cut off my daughter'.

Her loss at the end of it all. Who needs her, when there are droves of people running to Islam.

I dont see the point of cutting her off, could she have not asked her to keep her apostasy to herself for the sake of their relationship. Both aunt and mother are wrong.

Their are some weak people. I go to a prestigious medical school full of rich cadaan kids and maybe sometimes I feel that I uncomforable telling them my parents are from somalia you know the country with the pirates and al-shabab but now I don't care as much.

But I try my best to never hide my deen thats even worse.

 exactly, its not like these apostates are accepted by the disbelievers anyway. No matter what they do they will always be known as the 'ex-muslim'. They may be shown a bit of love at first, some may even make an odd TV appearance speaking about the 'oppression of Islaam'. Then eventually get tossed aside like a used condom.

You are Somali from Somalia, why differentiate yourself from your parents. You are just strange, i hope you are joking for your own sake.

I don't know about you, but giving dawah is one thing, but tryna maintain a relationship with someone who has left the fold of Islam, and is adamant about their decision, all for the sake of keeping a relationship, does not make sense at all. They can go to hell for all I care.

You see apostacy the most in the medical related fields or sciences, as soon as they learn about 'darwin and his so-called THEORY' yes he said 'theory' not a 'fact,' they start to question God and Islam etc etc. Often, if you start asking them questions about Ilahay and Islam, they know nothing, so you wonder how they can discredit something they are so ill-informed about?

I must point out though, a lot of the muslims, especially those who are 'cultural muslims' they don't bring their kids/others in an islamic way, and then they act outraged if they leave the deen or don't practise. Look at where your kids live? Don't they realise the environment plays a huge role?

May Allah swt keep us on the alssirata almustaqeema. Amiin

p.s. A lot of the Afo people were muslims btw, and were forcefully converted to Christianity in the Americas. They still are being converted to christianity in Africa, and they use money, food and in general their help to get people to convert.

Good point. Islam is a way of life, and its imperative that 'cultural muslims' raise their children Islamically.
