Re: Should Somaliland implement sharia law
I'm firmly against democracy or western law. I'd prefer to have a country under a benevolent dictatorship which strongly impliments sharia law. You don't need democracy for economic prosperity, in fact it hinders it sometimes. A transparent government made up of an academic islamic council will have the best of both worlds.

Re: Should Somaliland implement sharia law
I think we should because we r a muslim country and its about time we stop trying to catch up to western world because where not like them, good exp is the german guy look what happens when we let them in they mislead are ppl.
Re: Should Somaliland implement sharia law
Democracy might work in these western countries where government is really nothing more than a cherade and countries are really run by a few rich individuals but it will not work any where else in the world as is proven by what is happening in in the Ivory Coast right now. Democracy just causes division in society i.e Kulmite, Udub and Ucid and if it where not for Silanyo's love for his country it could have destroyed Somaliland in 2003.
Democracy is unislamic but i dont think a dictatorship is the way to go. The country should be run by a highly knowldgeable select group of culima.

An oligarchy. That's kind of like what I proposed. To be ruled by an group of highly educated culima, except one man should be leader.SLJOOFAY wrote:Democracy might work in these western countries where government is really nothing more than a cherade and countries are really run by a few rich individuals but it will not work any where else in the world as is proven by what is happening in in the Ivory Coast right now. I voted yes but I want to know where muslims have got this idea that muslims cannot choose who will lead them. Once Sharia is installed, if a 100% muslim nation like Somaliand chooses their leader, is it something wrong?
Nobody on this earth has a divine right to govern and anybody one who does knows he will have to always be looking behind his back.
42:38 Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance
3:159 Thus it is due to mercy from God that you deal with them gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you; pardon them therefore and ask pardon from them, and take counsel with them in the affair; so when you have decided, then place your trust in God; surely God loves those who trust.
