Waryaa are you really that surprised? I was told that women back home actually run business and the like whereas the man actually takes the money that is sent to the woman and uses it to buy khaad and chill out with his friends. I would not like to say that all Somali men are like that but it happens often enough.

I remember a few years back while I was staying with my aunt for a while.. I took my little cousins to school, mind you this school was majority Somali and a few cadaans, arabs and asians.
Anyway as I took the little ones inside the school gate I decided to wait with them till the school bell rang.. As I was standing there walahi all I saw was Somali women taking their children to school.. alot of them were even pushing prams iyo they had very young children with them who weren't of school age..
While the cadaan parents mostly came as a pair to take their children to school.. I only saw arab men *not a single female* while I was there.. and the asians were mixed!!
At around 3pm I came back to pick the little ones up... and suprise suprise nothing changed!!

I observed them for like two weeks straight and not once did I see a Somali father take/pick his children up from school..

Somali women indeed are STRONG!!

No shit.

Nice camels in the picture btw.

Someone was telling me a single camel in Somalia can now easily fetch for a cool $1000. And somep people think camel owners are poor. Think again.

I love seeing Somali men taking their kids to school or pushing a pushchair about somewhere.
