The Qu'ran states that rejecting Islam and becoming a murtad is a sin, but leaves punishment of that sin up to Allah, where it should be. The shedding of blood of Muslims is strictly forbidden.
The politics of the Islamic middle ages however, demanding the shedding of blood of fellow Muslims, and lots of it, due to the power struggles. Thus I consider the hadith that allow Muslims to kill each other "legally" by designating each other as apostates is extremely dodgy and goes against the intent and letter of the Qu'ran. I suspect it was invented by either the Abbasids to kill Ummayads or Fatimids "legally".
That is really interesting. I really didn't even know the punishment of apostate is not in the Qur'an. Also I don't think stoning adulterers is also in the Qur'an. James you remind me of a group called "Qur'aniyuun" who reject the Hadiith altogether. If that is the case Muslims are told to pray but only in the Hadiith do they know the process of praying and making wudu, etc. But I am of the opinion humans not infallible and there isn't complete certainty with Hadiith as you can be with the immortalized Qur'an.
To correct u, in the Quran it does state how to do wudhu, check suratal-ma'ida. Regarding Hadith, its the second highest Kutub, that teaches us the Sunah so that we follow the footsteps of prophet Muhamed SCW by following the Hadith. People that reject the Hadith then they reject Nabi Muhamad SCW.

All the scholars used to read to each other's work in the ancient and medieval world. All the scholars could read Greek, Latin, Arabic, Turkish etc.
So people credit these scholars with discoveries that they themselves did not claim.

Ok Thank you, but atleast you get my point, that just because you have heard it from one place doesn't mean it was the first, and that is what I was trying to draw to Pascals wager with what the Caliph had already said many centuries before. It just surprised me how quick you where to declare any statement contrary to what you thought was right as, totally made up or fake. Doesn't that bother you?

James God says in the Qur'an follow me and the example of my prophet. Allah did say men and women are equal but they are not the same nor do they have the same responsibilities. It is ironic Westerners always resort to the inheritance law to talk about women being oppressed when in fact women are more financially independent and secure under Islamic law. A woman can help provide for her family, but the responsibility is with the man. A woman can work and never contribute a single penny to the house while never being held accountable while the man is responsible for the financial burden. Also, a woman gets half the inheritance of a boy because the woman's inheritance is hers and hers alone while the male son's inheritance is not his but the families. Even if the girl had gotten her inheritance and set it aside, he is still responsible for clothing, feeding, and taking care of his female family members.
Besides .5 and 1 inheritance is in the Qur'an.

I'm definitely not going to argue in favor of western law, western law is founded on Germanic and Roman law and westerners used to hang people for stealing a loaf of bread and the eldest son inherited everything.
In Victorian era London they used to hang children for theft, they had special gallows made for children and would hang them.

Western jurisprudence owes the canon of common law to Shafi'i Fiqh.
In fact the word canon is from the Arabic Qainun
