If Khartoum rejects the result, you can kiss good bye to all this fuzz that South Sudan will be an independent country, and the civil war will start. Not sure why SLers are having so much fuzz about this South Sudan referendum. Remember, Eriteria had its referundum in 1993 and SL declared its secession in 1991 and Eriteria is an independent country because Ethiopia agreed to it

Keep in mind this referundum is about the oil found in the South Sudan and the west would not allow China to easily take it.

Even if bashir does not accept it America accepts it and the Americans and the Eu will push for it but bashir will accept the results so they will have their independence udun you should welcome this , this also benefits the people of the ogaden and Nfd as the African borders will re defined, Eritrea had a good case as they had colonial borders and a functioning government was present in Adis ababa in 1991 when the derg regime was ousted. ,
Somaliland also has a unique case with colonial borders . But There is no government that functions in Somalia they can deal with
Nope, SL does not have a strong case with the exception of foreign countries imposing their will to dismantle the Somali Republic. It is only Ethiopia and certain circles in UK who keeps the SL being separate alive. The borders of the pre-160 independence was abolished after the the union of the 1960 was signed with full consent of each parties. Both parliamentarians in the South and North were elected and they both agreed to it and the Somali population was supportive of that act. That union act supercedes any prior fake borders created by the British.

Keep in mind the Ethiopians approached Shariif Axmed government about the the SL case and he rejected it. PL is there to dispute any border claims that you may have, so your story has a long way to go.
We do understand SLers hope that Godane and co will abolish the TFG so they can claim that they have no one to negotiate with but it looks like he won't be allowed to do so. The sponsored war led by Atam in PL has also backfired big time, so the road for SL to be a separate country is still a long way
Aside the jokes, let us get real here, this Sudan break-up is about oil and the dismantling of an Islamic country. Not sure why any Muslim wants to be happy with the Sudan breakup when massacre in the Ogaden, Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan continues and the Somalis in Ogaden are not allowed to chart their destiny. The west is very hypocritical here and Muslims should not be happy this imposed division of a fellow Muslim country.
If certain sectors of the Somali regions want to separate, they need to lobby Mogadishu and Garoowe instead of cheering the break-up of fellow Islamic country
Fact: South Sudan is not predominantly Christian. It is populated by Christians, Animist, and Muslims.
