Even if bashir does not accept it America accepts it and the Americans and the Eu will push for it but bashir will accept the results so they will have their independence udun you should welcome this , this also benefits the people of the ogaden and Nfd as the African borders will re defined, Eritrea had a good case as they had colonial borders and a functioning government was present in Adis ababa in 1991 when the derg regime was ousted. ,Somaliland also has a unique case with colonial borders . But There is no government that functions in Somalia they can deal with

Nope, SL does not have a strong case with the exception of foreign countries imposing their will to dismantle the Somali Republic. It is only Ethiopia and certain circles in UK who keeps the SL being separate alive. The borders of the pre-160 independence was abolished after the the union of the 1960 was signed with full consent of each parties. Both parliamentarians in the South and North were elected and they both agreed to it and the Somali population was supportive of that act. That union act supercedes any prior fake borders created by the British. Keep in mind the Ethiopians approached Shariif Axmed government about the the SL case and he rejected it. PL is there to dispute any border claims that you may have, so your story has a long way to go.

We do understand SLers hope that Godane and co will abolish the TFG so they can claim that they have no one to negotiate with but it looks like he won't be allowed to do so. The sponsored war led by Atam in PL has also backfired big time, so the road for SL to be a separate country is still a long way

Aside the jokes, let us get real here, this Sudan break-up is about oil and the dismantling of an Islamic country. Not sure why any Muslim wants to be happy with the Sudan breakup when massacre in the Ogaden, Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan continues and the Somalis in Ogaden are not allowed to chart their destiny. The west is very hypocritical here and Muslims should not be happy this imposed division of a fellow Muslim country.

If certain sectors of the Somali regions want to separate, they need to lobby Mogadishu and Garoowe instead of cheering the break-up of fellow Islamic country

Fact: South Sudan is not predominantly Christian. It is populated by Christians, Animist, and Muslims.

udun ur making a few mistakes wether the border of pre 1960s were abolished or not trough out the history africa was divided trough colonial borders and the same borders are still intact. Do u know the whole charter of the african union to keep the colonial borders was to stop a Somaliweyn nfd ogaden kenya and Ethiopia. President cigaal in a speech said i was present when they passed that charter and it was to stop the somali Empire. And now that Sl wants to return to the colonial borders they have no leg to stand on. With sudan being divided. and they know it the only problem is egypt blocking it. As for Amiir Godane he has no links with us not with somaliland whats so ever .The Ethiopians in the long term will come on board for now status quo is perfect for them . the past 15 years we were busy with nation building and now we are busy with democratisation of the country. Also atam has nothing to do with alshabaab there is no proof he has links with shabaab, unless u claim if some one says he is a muslim he becomes an irhaabi. There is no garowe or mogadisho today somalia is run from Kampala and adis ababa. i also dont think its true kosovo was muslim serbia was not so it's possible

Udun, you said many truthful things wallahi

Somaliland are looking for something that will waste their time, they might aswell concentrate on better and useful things instead of looking for a recognisition that they would never ever get. It's like walking in a circle, when Kosovo got recognised Somaliland got all happy thinking they were close enough but truly this South Sudan thing will break their heart. :broken:

Lol at some people thinking the TFG is an entity worth anything.

Somalia is under UN Trusteeship. The UN decides when a paper govt is formed and they decide when its 'mandate' ends. To actually claim that they have any kind of power to decide the affairs of Somalia is laughable (except of course when it's to the detriment of Somali sovereignty e.g. selling of state assets or territory).

Parallels cannot be drawn with Eritrea or South Sudan who lobbied the world recognised govts they were once part of for succession, for there is no likewise govt in Mogadishu to lobby to. SL is arguably the strongest entity in what the world recognises as Somalia today, to say their fate lies in Villa defended by General Buhuku or the Garowe dustbowl is a joke.

The absolute truth is not one African leader or country decides what will happen in Africa. Once the west/ America wants SL to be recognised it will happen.

The TFG is the current government of Somalia and has power to decide about this, and no government in Somalia would ever consider recognising North Somalia.
