The TFG's powerbrokers are pretty much united in this. Abdullahi Yusuf was the last of the men who took part in the civil war.

This is a side not. So because of the domestic terrorism risk as well as the large general Somali diaspora in the US, the US government has drafted a secret plan to invest in the Somali community to take the reigns of Somalia in the near future. Unbeknown to most Somalis, the US government named a former ambassador to Ethiopia and highly skilled diplomat to be the US government's Somali diaspora liaison (official title). He came here two weeks ago to meet with the Somali community and yesterday a woman from the US state department who flew in from D.C had a meeting with Somali college students here to try to implement a "check and connect" program (the first of many programs directly between the US government and Somali communities). Apparently the US government has now "realized" the need to engage the "large human capital" of Somalis in the US and is attempting to draft a long-term plan of a "tripartate" dissecting policy...the US government connects with the Somali diaspora locally with a line going towards back to Somalia which is then linked back up to the US government.

Pretty much this is a policy that has formerly been implemented in countries with large diaspora in the US and strategic for US national interest like South Korea, Taiwan, etc. So Somalia is upgraded now to a special priority for the US.

Voltage,

Makes sense. I always see pretty high up Federal Government Reps show up to the Somali Youth Diaspora meetings. I remember being suprised seeing such high level reps at a local Somali Youth meeting but now it makes sense. I think young Somalis in the US are being groomed to perhaps turn Somalia into a Libera type Country.
