I believe she was brought to America through an Evangelical church organization and now she feels indebted to them. And if she was voting out of loyalty, she would vote democratic like all the other minorities because they are responsible for passing the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 that lead to the influx of immigrants into the country and are also responsible for giving minorities social welfare programs such as food stamps and affirmative action. By being a republican, she is asserting her independence of thought and not voting blindly out of gratitude like most democratic minorities.
