Yes of course.. Living is not the issue is family name and inheritance that might get mixed up that is why islam forbids it.. But raising an orphan, feeding him, putting a roof over his head even if its your own home are all considered noble in islam.

What if the kid doesn't know his family name? Can you just make up a family name for him/her, or are they allowed to take your family name in this case? Can they also call you mom and dad?

Advo is just over-exaggerating. If not, then...the reason might be based on Clan. If the child doesn't know what Clan he/she is, then no Somali would wanna raise another clan's child.

I watched a program about Somali parents who lose their children and it said that they did not want their children fostered by Somali families! They think of "ceeb" and not how much the child will benefit from being in a Somali home where he will think he/she was with his aunt/uncle. Somalis always think backward with these things.

LOL are you serious cuz? What Somali person would want to adopt a white kid and an asian kid? Wallahi it breaks my heart, Alot of these other races are going to adopt our children, and treat them however they want. I want them all to grow up in a Muslim household, with Somali guardians but that's just my dream. And I hope it comes true sooner or later.

In the US, many Somali kids with white parents have been reported. People say they were taken from Somalia before the rise of Islamic Courts Union in 2006.

It is better those who can to adapt or support those children in Somalia while they are with their close relatives backhome. I think we should do it for the sake of Allah. Keep in mind the refugee camps are also heavily targetted.

Adopting Somali kids from Somalia is illegal.

My wife and I adopted a three year old kid. But I threw him out when I caught him touching his private parts. That is haraam and should be done only with a girlfriend. Wrist action is not kosher.

Today it's masturbation, and tomorrow it's gay porn. Subxanallah. Boys should never take an interest in male genitalia. They should only look at girls. Half my Cagdheer relatives are married to Isaaqs. If they wanted to adopt I doubt they would care if the kid was born into a Hawiye family or not. It matters not.
