They are corrupt and ineffective, but they aren't "warlords".

All in all, this is the closest to heading towards post-transition Somalia's government will get. I am cautiously optimistic about the future. I agree 100% the phenomenon of warlords seems to have been eradicated from Mogadishu. Corruption and inefficiency are the next two things to be tackled, but taking the teeth out of warlords is perhaps the biggest step in political evolution in Somalia and for that we really have to thank the Islamists.[/

He is worse than a Warlord.

For the mandate to end, the parliament has to be sacked, a new one sworn in and then presidential elections held. I think for the most part, Sharif's group will survive if the gains made so far are consolidated and built upon. People will freak out on this one, but don't be surprised if you see couple major Shabab figures defect to the government side most notably the ones involved in the inter-Shabab beef. If that happens, a new unity government will be created & the International Community will have no choice but to support the government action.

Ofcourse the transitonal tasks have only not been met, but haven't been close to happening. That being said, progress is progress and theres no doubt that from 2004 until now, Mogadishu is controlled by a single authority (TFG/AMISOM) and the warlords have been totally phased out from positions, which is progress. Still though for almost 8 years, that is VERY slow progress and there is no reason why Somalia should not have had a permenant Government for years now.

I give his Excellency mujahid Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed 8.5/10.
He will always be known as the mujahid who saved Mogadisho from the 20 yrs of continuos chaos, the man who kicked out the the warlords and the Ethiopians, the diplomat who brought Erdogan and other world leaders to Mogadisho.

I got dibs on writing his biography.
