This ayah (5:51) was revealed when Abdullah ibn Sulul the big munafiq said to rasululah (slw) that the JEWS ARE HIS ALLIES, SUPPORTERS AND FRIEND at the time when the Jews tired to kill the nabi (slw). Then ALLAH revealed this ayah exposing Abdullah ibn Sulul's action.
