They were in quite a bit of a jam, after failing to goad the Muslim Brotherhood several times, and they were recently outmaneuvered and checkmated by the muslim brotherhood and they were pissed off.
The Salafis will open many doors for the millitary, just watch aljazeera and see the events unfolding in the next few weeks.
Judging by their previous behaviour and their sophisticated understanding of the political environment, i predict that the Muslim brotherhood will
endorse Baradaei for president and unite with liberals against the salafis..
Both the Muslim brotherhood and the Salafis want a muslim state,
but the Salafis will ruin the chances of any "islamist" taking power by their naivety and stupidity.
Not Baradei the majority do not like him. People see him as a foreigner who has little do with the country. Unfair but he hasn't helped it because he has zero political acumen and has allowed himself to be easily stereotyped. No way Baradei will win a Presidential election.
I agree that they will likely work with the liberals in the Parliament, but nominating a guy like Baradei will turn off the average Egyptian. Much more likely choices are between two IMO. They will either hold their noses and back Amr Moussa, who is very politically aware, and has portrayed himself to be a centrist. He is also well liked by the public. Or they will make amends with AbdelMoneim Aboul Fotouh. He used to be part of the MB leadership but they actually kicked him out because he went against the party command and ran for President. Even though they had a problem with this, I can see them reconciling and backing him for President. He is a doctor, well spoken, well liked, and head of the biggest doctors union in Egypt. Either of those two will be endorsed, I hope its the latter because Amr Moussa is a snake lol.
