When did Bashar Assad ever fire a single bullet for the Golan? Even on Syria's broader role via Palestine you have a short memory or simply a limited grasp of history. They are just a token in the larger interest of the regime. They abandoned the Palestinians plenty of times and Assad's father even helped sponsor a massacre of them in Lebanese refugee camps. Supporting Hezbollah is just a bargaining piece in the protection of the regime, as are its link with Iran, and evidently Russia and China. Evaluating the worth of a regime not through its domestic situation but through broader geopolitics is ridiculous.
