Dark or light has nothing to do with attraction in my book. It's about elegant facial and body features. She could be literally as dark as the night and a girl would still get my sap rising if she has fines features and carries herself well. In fact I actually prefer darker girls to lighter girls.

The black flag with shahada on it(used today by xarakooyinka shabaab, taliban and alqeada) was used during war times.
The white flag was used during peace time.

Marka the colour black is very hated.
Black is pure fitnah and problems.
