What makes us different from animals is our choices..
We have the choice of going against things.. Whether it be emotions, instincts.. And even ourselves!

According to Imaam ibn qayyim (rh), the cardinal human trait is modesty/xishood- He states
...any human devoid of this moral quality has no more of the human being than the outer appearance and physique; he has no trace
of goodness about him. Without this trait, no hospitality would be shown to a guest, no promise would be honored, no pledge would be fulfilled, no helpless person would be helped; one would not distinguish goodness from evil; holding the former in high esteem and avoiding the latter; a human would not hide his misdeeds or hold back from a sin. It is true of many people, that it is only 'Al Haya' (sense of shame in reference to Allah or of men) that stimulates them to undertake what they are supposed to do; without it they would not honor anybody's right, would not observe the rights of kinship, and would not respect a parent. The stimulus for all these deeds is either religious, expecting a favourble recompense, or the doers fear of what other people will say. It can be said that without Al Haya, man would cease to do any good...
The gist of what the Imaam is trying to say is, a large part of human actions are driven by the expectations of others around us. This sense of shame in reference to the creation or the creator is defined as modesty.

Interesting thanks for sharing.
There's a Hadith that talks about the importance of haya.. And I agree its definitely one of the most noble if not the noblest quality..
Its shocking how most people lack it nowadays whether its in the real world or the cyber one..
The Prophets *saw* said Haya along with trustworthiness will be the first to go from this world.. Therefore we should keep asking Allah for them..
