Dear Roving Madness, If books are to go by I have read several books that claim the opposite. Read the well researched book by Liqliqto where he sites great banaadiri books.
Xamar is the somali capital and there are many immigrants and that is what makes it great. The moment you engage into the tribal discourse, then you reduce it to so called headquaters of maamul goboleeds. It does not matter who inhabitated in centuries ago, what is important is the cognitive feeling. Xamar supercedes tribal discourse. It is a welcoming city for anyone.
The Marfish doctor is a product of tribal discourse. The Banaadiri guy is a victim.
Xamar for everyone...

Re: Old Banadir State Vs New Banadir State
Cognitive feeling not based on historical realities is just a myth.
I do not have to read Liqliqato's book to know the real & substantiated historical circumstances of Mogadishu. The old Somalia is dead & we are in the era of Federalism; the people of Banadir did not choose Federalism. It was imposed on them. Hence, they have every right to take ownership of their circumstances & develop their regions when other groups are also improving their lands. This myth of everyone having equal ownership of Mogadishu is unrealistic & born out of greed. The Banadiri/Cad Cad are active co-owners of Mogadishu & their stake is not in dispute. What's in dispute is the fact that other groups who entered the discoursed after the birth of the Somali state in 1960 positioning themselves as legitimate owners. They are not & the 21 year long civil war thought us this much.
Either Federalism as whole has to be ditched out or it should be implemented throughout. Somalia is a clan state & no-one can rearrange the clan-balance.

Exactly!! They want to share Xamar and the surroundings but they want to keep everything else to themselves. What kind of logic is that?RovingMadness wrote:
