You're right about those who left during the Ethiopian incursion, but I think you're wrong about those people becoming indoctrinated. Anyone who left from the west who committed suicide bombing had already come to the conclusion that it is permissible. They would debate hours on end about whether or not it was halaal. I had the delight of engaging in these wonderful discussions. Many would say that anyone who dies in the attack who is being protected by kufaar, is a kafir, and anyone innocent person walking buy will get jannah, so it's OK. They would bring opinions from Salaahudiin al-Ayubi, Shaykh Al-Albaani, Anwar al-Awlaki, Taliban examples, etc.Shirib wrote:The one's who left the west, the outstanding majority left 2007-2009, when Ethiopians were in the country. It was a mix of patriotic nationalism and the whole gaalo have invaded your Muslim lands. They went their to fight the Ethiopians, they didn't necessarily have the same ideology as Al Shabaab, Al Shabaab just happened to be the group that was doing the bulk of the fighting.BlackVelvet wrote:What about the ones who leave the West and go back to fight for them and/or blow themselves up?
Once you join the group, you're not really getting out, and then the indoctrination comes which they then convince them to do the bombings.
The non-Somalis who left and joined al-Shabaab even during the Ethio-incursion were already on this ideology. Some of them were on route to Afghanistan but were suggested Somalia due to complexion. I found these guys more irritating and at times confrontational when it came to debates.
This is an ideology that isn't unique to al-Shabaab and was most certainly not birthed by it. And it will always exist.
Writing them off as insane won't do the trick.greenday wrote:Dad waalan weey buxan waleey, you find one of them and your gd to go
