I actually prefer the capital to be moved to some where else, Lagos is not the official Capitol of Nigeria and it is home to 17 million ppl. Hamar is a home to a quarter of Somali population and the greater Banadir region is a home to a third of Somalis so it is still be the de facto capital of Somali speaking ppl in the horn.

The only real challenge right now is Hargeisa but they want nothing to do with koonfuris until the doomsday.
Towns such as gerowe and bosaso are undeveloped, small, extremely dangerous and clannish.

Xamar is the best capital city for Somalia. Its big, paved roads( the destroyed ones can be rebuilt), sea front, developed airport, diversity in ethnicity and clans.
With genius urban planning, Xamar can be home for 8-10 million people.

The capital of Somalia is not moving anywhere. The President and the national government have the final say, not some representatives of regional governments within the Somali Republic.

Xamar's population is growing 5% per year. That is 100,000 people per year

Bosaso infrastructure wise is probably the most developed city in somali right now , its even more developed than garowe, it just doesnt have a lot high rise buildings, garowe has many high rise building but doesn't have too a lot of infrastructure in term of roads and bridges, and both are more infrastructural developed than hargeysa, you can claim that they are clanish all you want but dont claim that hargeysa is better at either of these cities that's just a lie.

I believe Galkacyo should be the new capital the city is claimed by two of the three recognized somali states (galmudug and Puntland), its almost at the equatoral line of the country, and both northern and southerners can have access to it, it is landlocked which adds to its security, and both darood and hawiye have access to the city. Its not the most developed city in the country but its not also a dusty town and to the north there is a lot of development happening. Xamar is a dark past and should be left there.

The only way Puntland can challenge mogadishu if it can build a brand new world class city beside Alula paradise where Ethiopians will have hard time reaching in case of another war between the two countries. Alula is the farthest town from that fake Ethiopian border.

Garowe is not an option because it is on the border. Ethiopians can legally build a military base 10 miles outside of Garowe. Bosaso is way too hot. Galkacyo is not far from the border either and needs to be pacified which may take decades.

Faroole has become pain in the ass to many Mogadishu politicians. He is the talk of the town and Tarzan is now preparing large scale demonstrations.

The new Capital will be carved out of 3 districts in Mogadishu and the rest of the city will become a state or join another federal state. This was planned and satisfies the native's

what is infrastructural? I think some ppl dont get the meaning of infrastructure! besides moving the capital doesnt work most of the tyme unless you are a rich country like Malaysia though KL is still the capital putrajaya http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putrajaya Putrajaya is a planned city, located 25km south of Kuala Lumpur, that serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The seat of government was shifted in 1999 from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya, due to the overcrowding and congestion in the Kuala Lumpur areas. Nevertheless, Kuala Lumpur remains Malaysia's national capital,.

Tanzania moved its Capital frp, Dar e Salam to Dodoma http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodoma still the President and most ministers stay in Dar es salam and MPs go to Dodoma when there is a parliament meeting so though Dodoma is the official capital Dar es Salam still remain the un official and commercial capital of Tanzania.

Never the less if certain Somalis would like the capital to be moved from xamar then i believe there should be a referendum and where ever the ppl choose will be the capital while xamar remain the main commercial center as it has been for the last 5 thousand yrs.

My primary school was H/dhexe Hodon, later I enrolled Banaadir secondary. I still keep in touch with too many of my former classmates from all ethnic backgrounds, just like brothers and sisters and help one another. Sadly things have changed because the way a guy like Abdiwahab252 who was born Gaalkacayo claims to be the owner of that remarkable city :?

Mogadishu is huge... Bosaso is so tiny compared to it and Bosaso needs urban planning to expand to become bigger to house embassies, parliament buildings, and national infrastructure

Mogadishu has the capability, its all a matter of rebuilding whats already in those plots of lands that are either fully destroyed or partially destroyed. Just look at the map and you can see it already has the layout and the urban planning was done a long time ago.

I don't even know how Somalis can even make this up for debate.

fah, Bosaso can expand like 5% more. It is an island surrounded by sea and mountains. It is also extremely hot during summer time. The cpital doesn't have to be huge as long as it has good infrastructure, modern amenities, far from that Ethiopian line, etc. Now, we have ONLY Mogadishu.

Mogadishu is the capital of Somalia, anyone challenging that cannot give us a viable alternative.
