Greenday is in the attention, and the future investment that is to happen. Now it is a trickle, but when an effective administration is created, that is when you will see development. Xamar's curse is not being the capitol, but it being run by crooks, warlords, etc. All the revenue that was being taken from just the airport and port, which amount to millions every month, was being pocketed, so blame the people who have been taken it.
Anyway, Puntland doesn't want to have the capitol, and no one would let them have it. Xamar is going to the permenant capitol of Somalia.

Greenday,

Starting a new capital requires money and generally is hard to be successful. Look at Dodoma which was made the new capital of Tanzania and is struggling against the old capital, Dar-Es-Salaam (even the President spends more time in Dar than Dodoma).

Greenday, Xamar is going to remain the capitol of the Somali Republic for several reasons:
1. Historical
2. Political
3. Infrastructure
4. Economical
5. Location

Greenday, Puntland doesn't want the capitol, as a matter of fact, they want as little outside control as possible. Puntland only started that up, as a way to have changes to the constitution made, and to get concessions for them "giving up the idea of a new capitol".

Yep, been there during the best and worst times. It is easier to rehabilitate Xamar than to find a new location and start afresh. The only place that could even come close to being a decent capital would be Marka (far away from the Kenyan/ethiopian Border), has a small port, ample water supplies and agriculture near by.

ha, of course. It took the Xabash nearly two weeks to capture Xamar with American support in 2006. If Beletweyne, or Bardheere or Galkacyo were the capitals, we would have been seized in 1 to 2 days

greenday,

Xamar's population is more than double the size of the next biggest city in Somalia. It is geographically, economically, better than any other city, and the infrastructure even after 21 years of war, is still further along than most cities.

The seat of the capital will not be moved from Xamar, I can't see anyway of that happening.

Everyone does think like them, but it doesn't mean they will get their way. :|

Xamar will come back alive, a lot of change insha'allah will happen.
