How does one determine if it is something ingested,carried etc?

Varies. If a jinn is involved, they may even tell you. Granted, it comes at the risk of their life. If it's ingested, there's no jinn involved, to my knowledge.

I think the worst is something that is taken from you, used to perform sixir, then hidden.

What they say doesn't really matter. It's only about what's evident. That isn't difficult to find, I think.
