I agree, she is boring. But she is a liberal, therefore, we have to support her. She will retire on the third year of last term of Obama. Obama would have appointed 3 liberal justices by the end of his presidency. Stunning, isn't it? (provided one of the republican judges dying. Say-the black one--Thomas) :stylin:

She needs to retire now so we can get a young and vigorous new liberal justice this year. Who knows what may happen in the third year of Obama’s Presidency. His political capital may be all gone, the Senate may have changed hands, etc. And Obama’s Supreme Court appointments have not moved the court. Granted both the Justices he replaced were republicans (at one point in time at least), but they gradually became very liberal on the SCOTUS. Clarence Thomas is too young to die, although he’s overweight so that may complicate his health, but Antonin Scalia at 76 and with a lifetime of eating greasy Italian foods may be the one due for a major heart attack (inshallah). I wonder how the “wise latina” is doing on the Supreme Court. Has she made friends with the lesbian Harvard law deen who was appointed around the same time as her? What have you found out Basra, I know you have a keen eye for these things….

U and gossip. :whew: I think I might have infected u with this gossip bug.

I hate Thomas more than I hate Scalia. As u say, Scalia is the more likely to die first. The adoon annoys me because, first-- intellectually-- I find it offensive that an adoon sits in the supreme chamber. Second, as an adoon-- he is a prime example WHY adoon are not in the same par as whites in the intelligence arena. The adoon is the only judge WHO doesn't ask question during Supreme court hearing. He hasn't asked a question since 2006 it is reported. In other words, He has already made up his mind without asking questions. People like gurey or Adali--will call that 'natural authentic intelligence' ---but I call it lack of --for a better kinder word---'lack of curiosity'!

Scalia is a brute, unsophisticated Italian who belongs to a butcher shop than supreme court. I give him great efforts though, for making the effort to appear sophisticated. He is no different from his best brute friend Thomas, only- that he is slightly elevated in the race, ecosystem hierarchy. (him being Italian as opposed to a mere adoon)

Kagan--the Manhattan Harvard educated lesbo is a true intelligence in the house. Now, she definitely needs to be respected, despite her 'unfetching' looks. I wish she lost weight, wore a wig, and put on a hot red lip stick. But my wish are useless as I only have useful opinions, and no more. There is no trace of her sex life reported so far, I have researched carefully, but one assumes she has none. Perhaps a special mechanical justice friend meets the need? :dj:

I agree that Clarence Thomas is not very smart. I haven’t come to that conclusion because he doesn’t talk in oral arguments though. Those arguments are just for show anyway, and it’s hard to speak when all your colleagues love to hear their own voices and won’t shut the fuck up. A justice needs to only read the briefs submitted by both sides to come to a decision. But I bet Thomas doesn’t even read those. He probably assigns his carefully screened and brilliant law clerks to write conservative opinions for him. That way he doesn’t have to do anything (he can just watch t.v in his chambers like Thurgood Marshall used to do) and with every opinion that’s produced by his office he extracts a sweet revenge on all those liberals who tormented him, especially when he’s on the winning side. I must disagree with your assessment of Scalia’s intelligence though. You’re totally wrong. His father was a professor of romantic languages, he graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and he taught law as the University of Chicago (a top conservative law school). Scalia’s opinions and dissents are consistently the wittiest and most well written of all the justices. He has a brilliant mind, though by some calamity it is conservative in its disposition.

union :o one question: is your defense of Scalia--biased? Are u former Mad Mac? R u Italian? Calling Scalia smart? Wow, I am shocked.

No, I don't think he is smart. HE is no dummy, but he is certainly Not intellectual. He strikes me as always struggling to impress the liberals, to be in the same par league with them. He realizes how smart they are, and sometimes even out of desperate-cy-- God forbids he invokes Shakespeare out of no where. :x

The failed pseudo-intellectual on the court is Antony Kennedy. Just read his opinions, they’re ridiculous. He thinks he’s some sort of profound philosopher….

Kennedy is a gentle soul. Hey, he is the most pragmatic and smart one I assume, as he judges from pragmatic point of view than ideologue. To me, the sign of smartness, is the ability to be able to put yourself in another's shoes. Kennedy more often breaks the ideologue vote--he is usually the decider vote. He is ok in my mind. I haven't heard him speak or seen him in interviews---I don't have a good grasp of analysis of him as I do the ones I have mentioned. :eat:
